Mullen's offense has improved every year he's been here. The defense clearly had gotten worse.
No it hasn't. It's been bad -- and it hasn't gotten better. It's been good only by Croom standards.
yr - Scoring O, Rush O, Pass O, Total O
2009 - 72, 9, 113, 69
2010 - 48, 16, 87, 42
2011 - 72, 38, 94, 84
2012 - 60, 84, 59, 80
We've had ONE offense that was slightly above average in scoring.
We've had THREE offenses that were above average in rushing, although the most recent one was pretty bad.
We've NEVER had a pass offense that was above average.
We've been above average ONCE in total offense.
We had 2 elite rushing teams - 2009 and 2010. Outside of that, EVERYTHING about our offense has been pedestrian and below average. Just another reason that we've GOT to have changes on that side of the ball...
and I hope he is doing that.in the first half vs Bama and aTm? I'm all for Mullen being an ******* when needed but he flat out gave up in both of those games and they aren't the exception. He's done it before last season vs LSU and Bama. Giving up on your team is the most deserving of an *** chewing than any personal or playcalling mistakes the assistants make. Mullen is being stubborn as 17 with retread Les too. Whose gonna chew Mullen's ***? (this post is not directed to you Cadaver)
just pointing out that most successful football coaches at high levels DO tend to be that way and it is not that unusual. I mean its pretty obvious to anyone looking that Chris Wilson primarily left because Mullen made it clear he didn't really want him anymore as a DC and NOT because he got his feelings hurt. And given the intensity and passion that's involved in coaching and working in a high level football environment there is no way that is an apples to apples comparison with a normal office working environment so in my view its pointless to even go there. This answers maroonmania as well. Imagine your boss walks into your office and dog cusses you, ridicules you, and just flat out talks down to you in front of the rest of your co-workers and workers that are under your supervision. That is unprofessional. It may not be publicly through the media but still unprofessional none the less. It may not can be heard from behind the ropes at practices but that doesn't mean it's not happening. In other words cussing a coach or talking down to them in front of the players they are responsible for coaching and the rest of the team. My line of thinking is if I screw up you can call me in for a meeting and call me everything but a child of God behind closed doors. I can deal with that. I'm a man (Mike Gundy voice), but do not belittle me in front of everyone especially those that report to me.Not sure if this ever happened with Wilson, but 100% it has with Les and also with Hud.
Not making excuses, but not many teams face defenses like Bama, LSU, and Auburn (not last year). That skews the numbers somewhat I think.

Our defense was supposed to be STRONG this year is the difference. They were supposed to carry us this season. Instead they brought us down.
The offense was average but they were supposed to be average this season. We had many questions coming into this season. And while I would like to see Les go, defensive changes were more urgent in my opinion.
To me PJ Jones was the biggest disappointment. I expected a lot more out of him than we got this fall. We better hope he, Evans and James all get their heads out of their asses.
