Georgia: Defensive line coach Chris Wilson will earn $250,000 on a 1-year deal.

He didn't get much out of a lateral...one year deal and less money? He probably didn't have much of a choice.

Being blasted in and treated like an 11 yr old front of your players, you child and having idiots in the stands blast your wife is probably why he made the lateral. And engie's numbers in the other "Tyler stuff" thread proved the offense is our biggest issue not the defense. Starting to look like we have a thick headed coach who fails to accept personnel change means OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY change and not doing so hurt the entire team.

If true, that is NOT a lateral...

one year deal with a pay cut and demotion in responsibility does NOT equal a lateral move.

Hopefully it means he finally lost it with Wilson's ineptness and made the move we all thought needed and he will keep HIS OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY with HIS QB. Les may still end up demoted or if rumors of his mouth are true, canned

You must be a big fan of soft coverage with zero rush.

Bad situation??? This is the best situation MSU football has been in in its history! And butt hurt, failed ex-coaches like you can do nothing but hate on a successful one, complete with the MSU anti-QB complex.

Well, now that Grantham is following Kelly to Phlithy, ol Wilson may find himself with an opportunity to be much more involved than a simple position coach.

Damn we'll have to go through Florida Vandy and Mizzou before getting to torch that D.

You must be a fan of piece of **** unprofessional ********. That's what Mullen is, but with that said I have friends to drink beer with. If that ******* can get us 7-9 wins a year he can stay as far as I'm concerned (minus getting embarrasses in Egg Bowl again).

**Key the "we have to raise our expectations" post.

A couple of things dumbass:

1. Coach57 is not an ex-coach

2. Getting cussed and yelled at fairly regularly in front of your players is the quickest way to have assistants leave your program to find another job. Sometimes a better offer comes along for you to get out- Hud and Manny...sometimes a lateral move- David Turner (who even made mention of Mullen hopefully growing as a head coach in an interview recently)...and sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and take a step down for a better working situation- Wilson

I found this to be very telling and it proves your point.

If Turner was the least bit concerned about Mullen, he wouldn't have taken the job. That's how **** works in the real world.

Yeah, because unemployed people NEVER take a job they may not really want so they can feed their family do they?

Wilson will receive a pay increase and promotion within the next week. Book it.

Yeah I have no doubt Richt is clueless on the state of the 2012 MSU defense. Who wouldn't want to promote the architect that put that together?*

because there are a lot more successful coaches that are ******** than the reverse. That's all we heard about Cohen when we hired him from the sensitive around here was he was an ******* but its pretty obvious he is going to eventually win in a pretty big way. Now the "unprofessional" part I don't agree with. I haven't see Mullen running down his coaches or throwing them under the bus in public or in the media so he seems to handle things in a professional way and as far as I can tell has pretty high ethics. Now if Chris Wilson was just looking for a really nice guy to work for he probably found that in Mark Richt.

Exactly, and when Turner said that...

If Turner was the least bit concerned about Mullen, he wouldn't have taken the job. That's how **** works in the real world.
believe he was talking about maturity and experience in doing things as a HC well. Don't think he was talking about Mullen becoming "nicer". That's more of a personality thing and if that bothered Turner I'm sure he would have heard about it from Wilson and other assistants and would have stayed away.

As long as we aren't paying him to watch our DL get blown up or play a 3 man front when we know we don't have the players for it.

What has Mullen ever done that is "unprofessional"? He has YET to fire a single coach. If you ask me, it's pretty DAMN professional to allow these guys to all find other jobs without sending them through the unemployment line first like Dan has done. Bitching them out on the sidelines or through the headsets? I've YET to see him do this without an excellent reason to.

If Grantham goes to philly, either wilson or Olivadotti will likely get the job.

I agree with you. I think Turner's words were somewhat revealing. Melvin is a good example. He's been cussed and dogged 6 ways to Sunday for 4 years. He was looking for high school jobs in Texas he wanted out so bad. This is the coach that took a no-name 6'3 140lb stick and made him into a Thorpe Award winner. I never understood why Mullen rode him so much. Point being, the Tony Hughes', Melvins', Knoxs', Turners', and Geoff Collins' of the staff will not put up with being dogged or they'll just make a lateral move somewhere else. I hope Mullen has learned and matured like Turner said and this is not an issue anymore as it was the first couple of years.

Heck I did a fair amount of cussing Melvin from thestands this year... From my point ofview there wasn’t improvement from last year, and possibly a regression. Not what I expected from returning playersand coach. I was very disappointed inour defense this year the highlight was possibly the linebacker play.
Over the course of the past season what letter gradewould you give to the following groups; D_Line, Linebackers, Cornerbacks, andsafeties?

I cannot believe some of you are serious. Look, I don't give a **** if Mullen cusses their asses out every time they screw up and never praises them...It is HIS *** on the line if the coaches he hired don't get their jobs done. And if they want someone "nicer" to play for, then go seek out a CUSA school to coach at, I'm sure there are some weak *** coaches over there that lose regularly. Mullen has done more from a win/loss perspective than damn near anyone in our history, so if cussing the **** out of Melvin Smith and losing him keeps us playing in bowl games...then call his *** up in Auburn and cuss out his voicemail for all I care. It sure didn't keep Deshea Townsend from thinking Mullen was too hard to coach under....did he not call around and ask what it's like to coach under Mullen? Or did he just look at guys like Hudspeth and Diaz who after one year under Mullen raised their stock enough to take bigger and better jobs? I bet they don't care if Mullen is nice.

Some of our fans want to do "whatever it takes to win"...and then once we're winning, they want that coach that is doing whatever it takes to "be nicer to his assistants". 17 that. I guarandamntee you that he's not cussing them when they are getting the job done. So, do your job, and everything will be fine. Don't do your job, and we will find someone else to coach an SEC DLine for $200,000+ a year. But the bottom line is, if Mullen runs coaches off and then starts losing, he will be gone too...so until that happens, keep winning.

Exactly - More than likely some of these sympathizers over the plight of the assistants gripped when we lost some games this year. I for one am glad we have a coach who is willing to take action to improve the team ans so far he has done pretty well. So glad he isn't kissy feely with the defence the way it played this year.

Agreed with all this...I'll be a happy camper once he holds the offensive staff's feet to the fire in the same way that he has the defense...
