"If Randall Mackey had come in as a tailback, he would be one of the best in the nation right now."

I'm sure he's a good athlete but that is a stretch. I mean switching positions mid-stream is not easy, we all saw how the transition was for James Carmon. Although he is in the NFL right now based on potential and size alone.<div>
</div><div>Perhaps Dave Womack's Defense is a bad as his last couple at Georgia Tech were. Everyone they played had all-american games.</div>

He wants to be best friends with the coaches and he knows that he cannot be critical of them and still have breakfast with them every tuesday morning. They could lose 35-0 and he would have some write up that made you feel like they were a couple of players away from the Sugar Bowl.

Nutt obviously didn't make these guys work out and he'd be in the same spot he is now. It's going to be 3 years before we have a decent team in Oxford.

I live in Atlanta, go to a number of Tech Games, and work with GT grads. He was hated. While he was not 'fired' his contract was not renewed. You should also factor in the time of possesion favoring GT in those stats.

Perhaps he has found a new zest for the game but he was not good while he was at GT. I'm of the opinion that he is just not an SEC D Coordinator. I'll be willing to pick this conversation back up in January and see if you feel the same.

Nix was asked to find another job by Spurrier and the Bears spun it as a coup for hiring South Carolina's DC away from them. I tried to tell them at the time that he was not a good DC. Womack is about on par with the Nix and Torbush hires we've both made recently.

Allowed 66 plays of 20 yards or longer

Allowed 22 TD drives of 3 minutes or less

And that was with a slow plodding triple option offense. Give him a hurry up Offense to work with and I bet he could double that number!

Get used to the poorly timed all out blitz is all I have to say to Reb fans.</p>

Bend but Don't Break! I guess?
That sound like it's gone through the spin cycle?

IMO from everything I've read Wommack is trying to run the Joe Lee Dunn D without lockdown corners...

<div>Against Wommack's GaTech defense in 2009, Tyson Lee went 20 for 30 for 278 yards and had a 148.8 passer rating. </div><div>
</div><div>The 278 passing yards were by far State's most in 2009 (MSU had only 1 other game with over 200 pass yards). Add in 209 rushing yards, and State had 487 total yards. State's 31 points against them were State's 2nd most in 2009 (to MSU's 41 pts vs Nix/OM). All of thatin only 23:57 time of possession due to GaTech's successful triple option offense holding the ball for 36:03.</div>
