What protocol are we going to establish to discuss CWC? I watched yesterday, really good. Don't want to spoil.
Let's talk about it. It aired Wednesday on the Network and it's Friday, so we're good.
Cedric Alexander's awfully good. I'm partial to Cedric because I'm friends with the booker and ring announcer for NOVA Pro Wrestling out of Arlington, Va. who book him and say he's tremendous and professional in every way. I love the Lumbar Check as a finisher. Don't get me started on man vs. woman matches, but he did it to Candice LeRae at a PWG show last year and...
God bless.
Kota Ibushi got the superstar rub in the first episode and deservedly so. He almost held back in a way, but he can work different styles depending on what the match needs, and he needed to be the hard hitter in his match. But I was also impressed with Sean Maluta, minus that one botched dive to the outside where it looked like he broke his back.
I know that several of the next rounds of matches have already been taped - maybe all of them. Cedric Alexander wrestles Kota Ibushi in the second round. My gut says Kota will go over but both guys will look great. When that match happens...watch it. I know a little more about this situation but have to hold back until after the match.
Oh yeah, Gran Metalik was pretty cool too. My thing with the Lucha style is that it's so light-hitting, you have to be really good at it to convince me you can win a wrestling match with it, and I think this guy is.
One last thing, D-Bry on commentary was great. I really like it when the color commentator loses himself in a match and marks out for a move so bad it interrupts his train of thought. It's one of the things I loved about Bobby Heenan. Well D-Bry did that a lot and I enjoyed it. He meshed well with Mauro.
The CWC is just a cool thing in general. I appreciate how they're treating it like a legit sport. WWE NEVER does that. It reminds me of something WCW would do in the late 80s, only they're being cool about it.
