Makes sense but kind of doesn't. So if Heritage wins, they would have to travel to W&M but SR wouldn't if they won and they are 40 minutes apart?!
Maybe it has something to do with how much support Heritage would bring. Not sure.

This makes no sense. Keep the schedule you decided on. What about the teams from region A/B who make it. This would require a day off of work to travel on Friday to get to a night game. For JM it is a 3 hour trip.

So now Hopewell or JM have too drive 3 or more hours just cause SR doesn’t want to. That’s some BS right there!
Ahhh quit whining. I drive to Lynchburg from Richmond and it’s the easiest drive you could ask for. It’s not 3 hours either. Hopewell is a lot more easier because they’re close to 460. JM hit Route 3 to 29 and it’s a straight easy shot.

Salem is over an hour past Lynchburg.

Put the state championship back in Lynchburg..Put 5a and 6a back in Charlottesville. 757 is too much of a hassle getting to. Make it centrally located for all. Move basketball back to the Vines Center too.

Best post this year on Virginia Preps.

Today I drove from Richmond up 64 to Charlottesville, down 29 to Lynchburg (then to Gretna). Easy drive. I even drove by that dump of a venue called Seigel Center at VCU.

Watch that last statement sir ;), proud VCU Ram here. But Lynchburg to Richmond is nowhere. I prefer going 360 to 307 to 460 in Farmville. I got from Memorial Ave in Lynchburg to Downtown Richmond (4th St.) in 1 hour and 43 minutes. Could’ve made it faster had it not been for the 100 stop lights between Richmond and Chesterfield.

going down today, I went 460, 307, 360. 288, 76 , 195. on the way back I thought I was headed east on broad street but I was going west, thus I kept going to 64.
Can't go wrong either way! I enjoy that drive. Sometimes I go 360 to 307 to 460 to 24 to 29 back to Danville. Easy. 55-65 MPH the whole way until you get to the town of Appomattox.

If Staunton River beats Heritage. (It could be moved if Heritage wins also, it just depends on how the Semifinal games go) Details below

Sorry but this makes no sense... I google mapped all four schools and Salem Stadium is further west than Heritage or Staunton River. So while I understand the argument that Staunton River had to travel all the way to Williamsburg last year, if they or their fans did not like that, then why would JM or Hopewell fans like traveling all the way to Salem?

The bigger picture for me is that it is practically a home game for Staunton River and Heritage, especially on a Friday night when fans of JM or Hopewell might not be able to make that drive with work, kids in school, etc... Saturday obviously not so much of a problem logistically.

I like what someone championed, they need to be centrally located, neutral sites. Hampden-Sydney for example if it is Hopewell v. Staunton River/Heritage winner or City Stadium or Richmond Spiders stadium if it were JM v. Staunton River/Heritage.

I agree Dan. Doesn’t make any sense. IMO, honor the sites for this year and make the changes next year. A lot of neutral football fans like myself go to the state championships to watch both games. If you’re going to move the 3a game, move the 4a. Also if Salem was to make it, their fans will have travel 2 years to Williamsburg. Move their game to City Stadium in Lynchburg.

I think it is important to note that SRHS has no input on this. This is not something they got together with the VHSL, made a request, and it was granted. This was just as a big surprise for SRHS as anyone else. With that being said, I can't imagine ANYONE would turn that proposition down.

My opinion is that the VHSL is looking at the potential gate fee for a Staunton River game in Salem vs. a Staunton River game in Williamsburg. Staunton River draws huge crowds. I'm forming my opinion without knowing what kind of crowds Hopewell or JM draw. Im also basing it on the fact that heritage doesn't draw big crowds and they said it might only be moved if Staunton River wins and not necessarily if heritage wins. Just my opinion. Of course I know I don't have all the facts and I'm a huge facts guy. So who knows.

I don't care where they play the games. Just don't play three games at the same time. Class 1&2 on a Thursday 3&4 Friday and 5&6 Saturday.
