I thought I read something a while back in regards to the NSAA considering classifying Basketball and Volleyball by gender specific enrollment. Essentially piggybacking off what was done for the football classification. Did it ever go anywhere? When would/could this be enacted?

I believe most/all districts voted “yes” for getting this passed. Next step is to go to the Legislative Commission in February. Then after that, they get passed on to the Representative Assembly in April.
From what I’ve heard from a few AD’s is that it should pass. And comments from them that if it doesn’t, it could be challenged because of Title IX. What’s good for the boys (FB) should be good for the girls.
Don't want to create a huge controversy here but I think its a little overboard in all cases. Will we do this with all sports??? What about sports like track and C/C where B/G compete in Dist. the same day. Do you send them to different sites because of different classifications? Smaller classes(C/D) wouldn't have coaches to send to multiple sites.

Track & XC are not included. Has nothing to do with “politically correct” it’s whats fair. If you have a C2 school in b ball team that has a wacky ratio of boys to girls, what’s wrong with one of them being a class lower if that’s the way it shakes out?
If you do it for one sport you have to do it for all sports, that's what is wrong with it. The purpose of this was "to be fair" as you stated. Why not be fair for all sports? So as the previous poster said, what happens when a class D school has a 7:3 boy to girl ratio so their boys track team is C and girls track team is D, then they have districts on the same day and have a total of 2-3 coaches.
Note: Class C and D track Districts are usually on different days, Cross Country Districts are on the same day for all classes..
