Clearly Tyler Russell is our QB going forward.

I thought he did enough today to win. Playcalling was mostly stupid, especially the double reverse midget pass. The WR's caught balls except Ricco Sanders. We ran the ball a littlebetter, but damn our playcalling is holding us back.We just damnit won't run anything off the edge to Bumphis or give Ballard a chance outside the tackles to make plays.Russell can sling it, and I think he is no doubt a better QB than Relf.

I guaranteeRussell is happy as hell we have an off week. After the beating he took today, he's going to need a lot of time in the ice bath. But he played good. The last pick wasn't his fault, and the 1st one was tipped. **** happens, but I feel much more comfortable with him in the game. And he made plays with his feet today, which besides his youth, was the big question mark. I think he proved he's got what it takes to play in the SEC.

lets dont act like it was a great performance.<div>
</div><div>He definitely should remain the QB- but we have a long way to go. You can clearly see now that Relf wasnt the only problem we have on offense. Mediocre WR's and an OL that is still not real good even with Carmon returning.</div>

Don't imply he blew the game by throwing the pick. This all boils down to a ****** OL, and there is nothing we can do about it. Coaching or not, our OL is weak and terrible. They have lost us more games than our staff has this year.

With the beating he's taking we need to find a juco qb to come in next year for depth, if nothing else......

But he had at least 5 or 6 that were dropped or should have been caught if our WR weren't impersonating a T-Rex. He made some nice throws into tight spots. This is only the second game where he has played more than a series or two. With experience, he will improve and gives us the best shot to win by far right now.

and/or an offensive line and he is all SEC. Sucks but he will probably go down in history like our other good QB's, on his back.

Most people on here thought Relf or the playcalling is the problem. Although I think the playcalling does suck, the clear weak spot, and the reason we are 0-4 in the SEC is the OL. They just simply suck. Russell was on his *** all day. He had pressure on him almost every play, took a lick on almost every play, and still gave us a chance to win at the end. That's all you can ask for, and way more than I think Relf could have done.

Right now, I think he is the clear choice to play because he is the best QB on the roster. But if the OL doesn't get their crap together, Dak Prescott may end up playing this year because the rest of our QB's will be out for the year due to injury.

Losing Tobias really hurt this team.I think heis the most important player on the team because without him, our OL is piecemailed together with a bunch of guys who aren't ready to play a team like we played today. </p>

Definitely not a great performance, but I believe there is something there to build on. I do feel somewhat bad for Relf, but no doubt that TR should start the rest of the season just to get some experience for next year.

I think most of us knew that our O-line and WR were the bigger problems.

Did you even watch the play? His arm got hit. You really think Russell underthrew his WR by 15 yards without something happening? His arm got hit enough to where the ball lofted up short. Not his fault.

but he was still 11-29 and 2 picks- he overthrew the deep the ball- unable to hook it up, he bounced a quick screen, and only got us in the end zone once- had that been Relf's gameline, people here would be livid

if you are talking about the deep ball to rico sanders, rico definitely alligator armed that ball. he might have caught it if he simply extended his arms, and definitely could have given it a diving attempt at the very least.

You can watch the game and tell a complete difference in the game. Do you really believe our running backs would have been successful at all with Relf in? Anyone that thinks our offensive line was playing better at all today is kidding themselves. Russell was on his back and running out of the pocket on 90% of his pass plays. When was the last time Relf scored a touchdown against an SEC defense?

His stats were not impressive, but his handling of the game and actually moving the ball was way beyond anything Relf has shown since the Auburn game. He was definitely not all SEC material but he is without a doubt our best option. I understand it is cool for you to stand behind your views for the last couple of years but someone would have to be a 17ing idiot to think Relf would have been even that successful with what he has shown this year.

I don't think anyone is holding up Russell for Heisman signs but it is a relief to have someone in that can extend drives with his arm and open the running game up.

Has Relf hit one since the Memphis game? I don't think it is a problem that Relf missed a few wide open deep balls, it is that he has missed a ton of wide open deep balls.
Russell definitely missed a few throws today, but to even compare that to Relf's deep ball woes is asinine. Neither of them is a great or good QB right now, but so far our offense has been better with Russell in, if not for his drive extending passes then for his ability to make defenses back off and open up our run game.

Maybe so, but I just think it would have been more pressure from the left side which makes hardly any difference when he was having to run out of the pocket immediately anyway. It is like saying stepping in dog **** is better than stepping in cat ****. **** is ****.

to TD with Sanders and many of his incompletes were throw aways to keep from sacks. Only had one sack with our ol and their dl. That is a miracle. He also had many of his completions on third and over 8 to keep drives alive and our defense off the field. For his first start, against a defense like that, I thought he did good. 34 hates this kid and pulls for him to fail so he can come on here and Stansbury us to death with it.

Our kicker killed us on this game, huge differance in play calling if were down 14-13 on that last drive.

Like everyone else, I hated to see the Dawgs lose today but was actually pretty pleased with our play. The defense was really good and continues to improve every week. I don't think we could've done anything to stop Alshon Jeffrey from catching the jump ball in the red zone.....simply too big and physical to defend in that situation. Johnthan Banks continues to impress me and looks to be stepping up his game every week.

I thought Tyler Russell played well today considering it was his first start and the fact that he was going against the best pass defense in the league.....a league that also has Alabama and LSU ( think about that for a minute). While his stats weren't mind boggling, he managed the game well, which is what you want to see from a player in that situation. He looked poised, looked like he had command of the offense, and looked like he knew where to go with the ball. When he ran it, and when he handed off/pitched it, it was the right decision. And most of all, our offense as a whole seems to play with much more confidence when Russell is in the game.

I think we've found our QB for the rest of the season, but he better learn how to get rid of the ball quicker and slide when he needs to, or he won't survive the Alabama game. Also, I think we'll see much more improvement out of him by the Kentucky game because he played a full game and can go back and watch that film to see what he needs to correct.

Also, never allow DePasquale to do another interview. I like his confidence, but you can't talk that much smack and then miss your field goals. That is all.

As I have always been with Russell. Should be Dak's job to lose next year. Russell is NOT an SEC QB. Like we have ever really had one.

...he absolutely did not overthrow that ball to Heavens. Heavens quit on the route. The coaches reaction says it all. Go back and watch the tape.<div>
</div><div>Russell was only 11-29 but he was asked to stand in and throw deep against a great defensive line with a spotty (at best) offensive line. His first pick was tipped (and came on a play that should have never been called). His second pick was on him, plain and simple.</div><div>
</div><div>Russell should have started last year. If he had, we might not have won as much then, but we'd be in better shape this year. He's a real QB.</div><div>
</div><div>Anyone with a brain who watched that game today could see how much more competitive we are with the threat of a deep ball.</div>

And/or is unbiased could possibly come away with this take on russell's play. No, his stats weren't great, but he couldn't even drop 3 steps before the entire defensive line was on him. He avoided sack after sack and delivered catchable balls that were either dropped or the wr just quit on. He threw about 5 away bc our ****** wrs were never open. He stood in the pocket until the last second and got the ball out and took massive hits without ever flinching. He played about as well as you could hope, given the circumstances. Yes, the last throw was terrible...ok, one bad throw. He missed a few deep ones by a foot (not 5 yards like Ralph). But he's not been practicing with the 1st string wrs all year, so their timing is a little off. But, I'll tell you this...he was 17ing light years ahead of what we would've gotten from Ralph. He quit 4 games ago. He's given up. So let's not bash the qb we have that's still trying. And we still may have won had our kicker done his job or if little favre hadn't bobbled the ball when he jizzed his little pants. Anyone who watched the game yesterday and is bashing Russell over it either doesn't know jack **** about football, or has a bias against Russell. Or both.
