As a fan I am excited to watch this game, a lot of interesting storylines. Both teams peaking late in the season. The environment should be insane. SP has to find a way to get stops and Crest has to protect the ball. The first game between these two can be thrown out the window.

My top four teams I predicted in 5A are all playing tonight. I am cheering for Coach Lloyd to get him despite everything else. He is a great guy. I made a comment last season prior to the KM/Crest game that rubbed the Crest faithful wrong when I stated That KM was better 1-22 than Crest. I couldn’t say that this year. When I look at the 5A playoffs, Crest will be simply better than their 5A playoffs opponents 1-22.
This year as the season progressed and especially now, I believe Crest is probably the most balanced team in 5A when I look at offense, defense, special teams, and coaching. Crest defense and kicking game has been really good all season. Good luck tonight. I say Crest 24-27 and SP 14.
I’ve gotten a few more right than that but yes my one miss should be weighted lol. There were a lot of behind the scenes variables that were brought to my attention the morning of that game but I had already jumped out of the airplane at that time so there was no going back. Got to see it through at that point lol

I agree with you on this one. I believe we are keeping this because it was a class gift but we definitely need to upgrade. We have the funds to do it.
In the LAST 10 years The YOUNG MOUNTIES are 24 and 12 AGAINST burns, crest and shelby i think that MAKES them THE PREMIER TEAM in CLEVELAND COUNTY.
You right. Definitely wasn’t a pretty sight. We return a lot of kids the next couple of years that should use that 70 as motivation in the weight room during the off season.
They definitely should... It was wasn't the score that was embarrassing. That happens. It was when they quit that was embarrassing. That starts at the top.
When is Beam coming to Casino Hill? We all know Brinkley is the only one who can convince the powers that be to let him back in. He's got the $$$$$$$$ to bypass that Shelby money..

We had a perfect storm of things hit us. We definitely didn’t handle adversity well for a couple of weeks as a program. Multiple injuries, youth, parents, administrative, and coaching turmoil, player behavior culminated in the complete disaster in the Crest game. To be fair Herron is a great coach but he is also battling some of that old KM behind the scenes nonsense that held the program back for years. As an outsider he was dealing with a lot. Herron needs to be able to bring in his own coaching staff. We need a real OC, we need a real strength coach, and we need to reevaluate some of these new assistant coaches who were brought in and given decision making power just because they were hired as teachers. We need more passionate coaches on the sideline who know the community or who have a proven track record of building champions. We don’t need an autopsy of the program, we just need some in/out surgery here and there.
I heard he was battling the behind the scenes folks. That's a tough deal it really is. That's crazy.
I mostly just go on with MP. Who I do not know but I like. KM has the talent coming up to be a powerhouse. I hope they let Herron cook. Do what he knows. Nothing worse than a bunch of behind the scenes blowhards trying to coach.
KM will be fine.

Caleb Gordon, D’various Surratt, and William Vaughn will all join former Kings Mountain Mountaineer AJ Richardson at NC State. Congratulations to all three young men!
Yes I was at the game. Sat with one of my SP buddies who is a preacher but you wouldn’t know it when he cheering on his Raiders lol.
I thought the Crest D adjusted and played really well after the half. I was really impressed with the way Crest db’s tackled in space. Crest’s defensive coaching this year has been elite at times this season.
Hickory’s Glass is an elite play caller that has had Lloyd’s number. Glass will have his guys prepared. I do not think Crest is a good matchup for the Hickory overall. Players 1-22 I believe Crest is better across the board. Crest will be highly motivated, if the field is dry I am predicting Crest 35-42 and Hickory 17-20. Crest advances.
