Yankees said they expect a decision by tonight, before the game. Lee is slated to throw tonight against them. I'm hearing that they are giving up Vazquez and Montero.

Vazquez does nothing to help the M's down the road, and I think he'll be dealt to a contender in the NL.

Vazquez will be dealt, but it will probably be for a right handed bat. Supposedly it is for 3 prospects. Mongrel, Adams(2nd baseman), and not sure the third

if Vazquez is going to them or not, I'm just passing along what was reported.

*edited to add: It looks like it's just montero/lee. I like this. Montero has always had mixed reviews from scouts defensively. We already have long term contracts on RF, LF, and 1B. We don't really need a young DH, either.

Now teams will get desperate to get the next ace in line. Roy's huge contract won't be as much of an obstacle. I am hoping he goes to Texas or Tampa, both have a ton of good prospects to deal.

For those few Astros fans on the board, we made a huge international signing picking up Dominican Ariel Ovando the other day. Kid is 16 and already 6'4 and filled out. Comps with Darryl Strawberry according to scouts.

I really wish Carlos Lee was hitting better this year, cause I would love to offload that ***** of a contract. But come August 1, hopefully Oswalt (and Berkman and Lee if the gods are smiling) isn't on the roster.

Carlos Lee - $19 million a year through 2012.
Alfonso Soriano - $19 million a year through 2014.

it still wouldn't help are Godawful hitting this year.

There is a rumor flying around up here above the mason-dixon that the Yanks, Rays and Red Sox are in play for Werth pending the Phils dropping out of contention in the next month. I don't see us paying for him either although Amaro Jr (GM) keeps stating he wants to resign him. Phils also have the #1 rated prospect, Domonic Brown,in the league to replace him with.

Latest Rumor:
Vasquez for Werth

Soriano and Z's contracts are 2 of the worst in the majors. It's like we're colluding to give the Cards, Reds, or even the Brewers the division every year.

I can't imagine being a Pirates fan.

I know we weren't going to be able to keep him after this year, so better get something, but damn....seem M's could have done better.

Moreland has struggled in Triple A for the most part this year but the Rangers really like him and think he could possibly become a huge star for them...........

Hadn't heard that, but that would be interesting.

AA - waiting to see what MLB team to semi-follow
