Clinton vs Ledford Sept 24(revised)

So with Red Springs in covid protocol Clinton has picked up a game with 3A Ledford Panthers out of Thomasville NC. Thankful we were able to find a replacement game and with what looks like a quality opponent undefeated and ranked high in 3A west. Dont know much about Ledford have to do some research but this should be a great game. Thanks to them for answering the call.

Yes looks like a tough game. They looked very balanced on offense. Someone to keep our eye on will be Owen Finley #6 the 6'2 senior WR/DB has put up top 10 numbers in receiving yards and also tied for 1st in INTS

What an awesome matchup. Don't know anything about Clinton but did see Ledford last week.

Ledford's a fairly solid team. Very well-balanced on offense. In addition to Carr and Finley, the Panthers also have another decent receiver and two capable running backs. They also have a very good kicker.

On defense, they're not too big upfront. Their linebackers and secondary have good speed as a whole.

Finley's a player. He's got a nose for the ball on defense. Interesting thing about him is that he's one of those players that stands out but doesn't stand out (if that makes any sense).

I hate that don't live closer to Clinton. I'd like to take this one in.

Yeah these RPI rankings are something else.....West Bladen is top 10 in 2A based off RPI so far. Lol.....i honestly dont have a issue with where we are ranked in any poll at this point but i do have to chuckle at these RPI rankings HSOT posted

You can watch on NFHS network. We sync our radio broadcast to the video so it’s like watching ESPN just with back woods announcers lol.

We don’t get to listen to ourselves but based on some broadcasts I’ve heard and other posters stories, we are way more neutral than most. But yes, we are homers. It’s natural to be. I personally though try to keep it as neutral as possible giving credit due to other team as much as I can, but I’m not perfect.

For anyone wondering WTH…..it’s an inside joke. We intentionally talk about camping because one listener complained that we didn’t solely focus on the game and sometimes talked about random things like “camping” to which we never had and both of us know nothing about. Now we do it on purpose just hoping they are listening so it grinds their gears.

Very interesting match up and somewhat random! It is def a drive for Ledford, which is in Wallburg. Ledford has put a tough defense on the field for the last few years and as mentioned, has a decent QB, in Carr and Finley is probably a D1 recruit. However, Ledford has struggled with quick and athletic teams in the past. Clinton will test them in that facet. I’m going with Clinton in this game.
Looking at ADM, for the recent realignment, Ledford has 920 students and Clinton has 806.

2.5 hours one way. Probably longer on an activity bus. 165 miles.

Just a bit of advice for the folks running the event at Clinton. Be prepared for a better than average away crowd. I’m not a Ledford guy, but I know they’ll bring more people that you think. Good opportunity to rake in some extra bucks at the concession stand.

Going against a QB like Carr and a balanced offense will be a great test for our young defense alot of sophomores and a freshman at times on that side of the ball have performed well so far......offensively i can see us taking some air out the ball and running behind that big experienced oline to combat some of the speed Ledford will be bringing......overall like i said before its going be a good game we needed a game like this.

Just happens that its homecoming so i think they will be prepared for a big crowd. And they will get treated to a good game hopefully.

Hope we are able to spread the word it’s a 6:30 start. Since Clinton went to 7pm kickoffs vs 7:30 we still have a lot of late arrivals. There will be some that will come Friday not even knowing the opponent or time change.

I think they will find our visitor side one of the nicest you'll find in any high school stadium in NC. When we built the stadiym 40 years years ago, we mad sure the visitor side was elevated (the ground) and the bleachers will beplentiful. The concession stands /restrooms are very nice. The turf is like a golf course on a turtle back field.

I want to say as a fan of the game, (and the DarKHofrses) I think it is awesome Thomasville Ledford agreed to make this road trip for a game with the DarkHorses. I think its a great matchup and though we want a win like they do, it should be an excellent learning experience for both teams here at almost mid-season. In a game where in the playoffs (in which both teams will participate) both teams will be able to look back and say this game helped them. That's what it's all about.

Time change was likely a request of Ledford for travel issues, but that’s a total guess. But it’s only 30 mins earlier than usual.

Could be. Google maps indicates that route is right at 2.5 in a car, but I’ve never traveled it.

Yes. Our conference agreed on having 7pm starts. Only time we don’t start at 7 is when we play away out of conference and they play at 7:30.

A lot of conferences have decided to move it to the 7pm time slot.
