@Wizard of the East, I'm not hung up on 2014, I hung up on philosophy, scheme. When is the last time you saw a team in college football win the national championship, running the type of offense you guys run? You ever see Georgia Tech or the service teams challenge for a national championship? Heck, look around on the high school level, outside of 1A ball, you see any state champs, w/ the exception of Charlotte Catholic, running that type of offense? It doesn't get the job done anymore. It only utilizes your athletes that are in the backfield, you have athletes at receiver, you have athletes in general who are basically decoys, being wasted, because it's all about that backfield. This is why I appreciate our coach Lance Ware so much. He came and modernized the offense, there's no more wastage of athletes, no more running fullback dive on 3rd and 15, no more trying to comeback on good teams once we are down to them. Like a Clinton, we don't have a shortage of athletes at Shelby, and they all get utilize in The Spread Offense, not being reduced to only the backfield.
As far as your super D and so called state leader in whatever, you guys have Reidsville Syndrome, you're a big fish in a small pond out east. You're not being challenged. When a 1A team, a team smaller in classification, is your toughest opponent every season, you're in trouble whenever you face the likes of Shelby, Monroe, East Lincoln, etc.
