My dad doesn't buy season tickets b/c his business only allows him to catch about 3 games a year. He called the ticket office and got put on the club level exchange wait list (for single game tickets). He got a call back the other day and the ticket holder offered him 2 tickets to Auburn for a thousand dollars. He said no thanks. He and I were surprised by the cost. Is that indeed a fair price?

Well, for starters the exchange list is supposed to be for CL members only as it's advertised. I know a lot of the time it's used for swaps. I've never heard of an "exchange waiting" list, so maybe there's an addendum to that.

As for the price, if someone is paying the facility fee for their seat, that would be the $1,500 regular fee, a $2,500 share of the 5-year facility fee commitment, plus the actual cost of the ticket. In essence, he's out about $650 per game for that seat. If they're not paying a facility fee (have had the seat for more than two seasons, which would be the vast majority of CL members), their actual cost is still above $250.
I've seen people get angry at someone wanting above face value for a CL seat, so the street goes both ways.

From what I've seen, the short answer to your question is that $500 a seat is high.

Thanks for the input. With all the commitments it's not as steep as it sounds. I think they are letting the non club level people have a waiting list chance soley to make sure bulldog fans are in the seats. I remember quite the uproar after a bunch of Bama fans were there a few years ago

I've never had club seats so I don't have a dog in this fight. However, the key piece of the pie that your figures don't include is how much this guy has donated in the past to simply have the opportunity to buy these seats. State law and university policy aside, I guess the way I've always looked at it is... Can Joe Schmo call the ticket office or go online today to get a club ticket for under $500? If so, then paying $1000 for two is obviously high. If not, well, then that's the price.

Not that you were doing this, but when people ***** and moan about others selling tickets for above face value, I feel like telling them "fine, go buy a lower level or club ticket from the university for face value". The problem is, you can't do it so either donate a ton of money so you can buy those season tickets yourself or quit crying about it. The people that own those seats have spent a hell of a lot more money than face value for them.
