will the coach be disciplined?

also, did Fort Calhoun get away with one at the end?

**no anti-black or anti-Jewish or any type of political rhetoric needed to discuss

When a coach does it, easy and proper response by the school is to sit him for some games, have him issue an apology, and give him one more chance if deserving. My guess is, the school will do nothing: 1) bet this is who this coach is (and the school knows it), Kearney coach said that he (they) was eyeballing him/ then all game, sounds like a “likes to fight” guy ; 2) the North crowd is probably close to 100% behind him. I sat directly next to them at a boys game a couple years back and the most of the adults acted like juveniles. It was beyond annoying, and pretty sad to watch.

That’s really sad to hear. Disappointing if nothing is done

This stuff has been going on for time eternity. Coaches yell at each other, fans yell at coaches and players...and it gets extremely intense with something on the line. Playing in western Nebraska was the worst for the kids with darker skin, N-word thrown around freely for the entire game by the crowd, grown people doing it too. It has actually chilled out a lot since the 90s.

These n-bombs have been thrown out this day of age or you're talking back in the 70s and 80s?

What does the use of that word in the 90’s have to do with this? Heated moments happen all the time. This doesn’t at all seem to be the situation in this case. If the Kearney coach is accurate, the opposing coaches were staring them down all game, and saying some nasty **** to them. It sounds like people intentionally and deliberately looking for a confrontation.

They are still thrown out in 2026 but in some cases there are consequences. We would go play in some **** hole in western Nebraska and have a kid from India or the Philippines and the entire crowd would be calling him the N-word in the 90s...the kids were seriously disturbed by it, so I guess it worked.

This stuff happens all the time between coaches. Certain coaches HATE each other, like want to kill each other just based on past experiences. Throw in the energy of win or go home and a hostile crowd, and emotions of your kids and it gets a little out of control. My dad used to coach high school bb and we had a deck of tapes of him losing his mind at other coaches and vice versa, just screaming at each other on the sideline. 90% of the time, the crowd didn't even notice in the din of a loud district game. The most common cause is when coaches talk to the opposing teams players...

You didn’t answer the question, and I don’t care. Yeah, I get that certain coaches hate each other, you have made it clear that you excuse the assault and think nothing should be done. Got it.

What towns in western Nebraska are the adult fans throwing out the n-bomb in 2025-2026?

Should be disciplined. Just make him sit out this championship game.

While I was rooting for Fort Calhoun, they 100% got away with a shooting foul at the end.

You call that an assault. I call it the softening of America. :)

I can't imagine taking high school basketball that seriously. The egos of some of these coaches are ridiculous. At this level, it's supposed to be about the kids and teaching them life lessons. But you have grown men talking **** to each other and making it about themselves.

These guys put in so many hours and are so invested. Most of them completely ignore their families to do this job. They also get a lot of ego at school, pep rally's, announcements, preferential treatment from admin and a slight chance to maybe get a job that pays better at a college. It is a horrible job and takes a certain type of person to do it, and this is why these coaches get a "little fiery". The best coach I ever knew, was a great man, perfect demeanor...quit because he wanted to parent his kids and support his wife.

“Grown” is a sad term for some of these idiots making it about themselves. I haven’t seen that many names on shirts since last summer’s reunion cookout in the park

Where is the interview with the other side ? Seems like we have one version represented...cant qwhite figure out why that is
Yup, if there’s one thing this society is Uber protective of, it is white men, especially when there is conflict. And I find it highly dubious that he wouldn’t say on air what the North coaches were saying, clearly he is taking the low road on this and hiding something!

It's possible to be highly competitive and a little fiery without being a d-bag. If you want to re-live your glory days and talk smack then find a Rec League to play in. When leading teenage girls and boys, be a role model and show them how to compete and win and lose with dignity.

I have seen an interview with the Omaha North head coach. Neither assistant has been interviewed and probably should take the 5th if they were.

I find it dubious that a grown man pushes another grown man in a sporting event and people call it assault. You people are soft. Maybe I missed something. Did somebody get flattened and get concussed? That is assault.

It is assault dipshit. It isn’t up to each individual what should or shouldn’t be an assault.

Unless the Kearney coach threatened the North coach with violence first, then legally the shove could be third-degree assault. Insults do not legally justify physical force. In Nebraska if you threaten someone in a "menacing" matter, that is third-degree assault, and a forceful shove could legally be considered "menacing".

I'm sure the Kearney Coach said something douchey, but I would expect an adult who leads young people to de-escalate the situation and brush it off, not lay hands on someone and have to be held back by a female assistant coach. That is embarrassing public behavior for a grown man. At the very least, I would think he violated his school's code of conduct.

Watched a couple minutes in a store waiting for the family to shop. Saw the North “assistant”. He runs the show, she’s a figurehead

I don't really care to do the research for you. Look it up yourself. I am sure you don't really care either.
I did look it up and found nothing.

The time it took you to respond you could have just mentioned the names of the towns/schools.

Or, you're just full of ****.

Well there was a documented incident in 2021 in Norfolk and Fremont in 2020, I know that incidents have happened more recently...I'm not in the loop in 2025/26 but kids tend to just overlook most slurs when city kids visit smaller town schools. Just part of the territory...home town cooking and a "hostile" environment are expected. I was more specifically talking about the prevalence in the past in places like Gordon Nebraska, which I am not even sure exists anymore.

Nah, you were pretty specific that kids AND adults from western Nebraska would through out racial slurs in today's world during ball games.

They are still thrown out in 2026...

You are right BUT they are not considered part of "omaha"

Nebraska seems to be divided up into like 3 or maybe 4 parts.

Omaha
Lincoln
Central NE
Western NE

40 years ago Boys Town was "the end of omaha"

Elkhorn was "way out there"

Bennington was "a tiny little town"

All that has changed.

Fremont is still weird because they are close to Omaha but still sooooooooo separate.

Norfolk is western NE to anyone from Omaha.
