Coach Mike & Mcgee

The records released this week indicate McGee spoke to or texted Balado and Powell 38 times between July 22 and July 26, 2014. Those dates, identified by police, coincide with when McGee sent a $200 wire transfer from a suburban Kansas City, Mo., Walmart to Powell in Louisville when recruit Antonio Blakeney and his guardian were in town.

Yet Mike Balado claims he had nothing to do with it. Keep in mind McGee was an assistant at UMKC at the time, so the only way he would know that he needed to set up a rendezvous would be if someone from UofL contacted him and requested it. It's not too difficult to connect those dots.

Balado’s phone records obtained from U of L suggest McGee and Balado had not communicated by phone or text message in months until July 21, 2014, when McGee texted Balado at 10:52 a.m.

I love it. Uoflol could have released this info 12 MONTHS AGO and got out from under it all !!!!! Instead they tried to hide it and essentially reopened the wound and put their name right back in the middle of negative publicity. They're the gift that keeps on giving. Is there a single excuse that uofl fans have used that hasn't now been debunked?

Just stop. UNC really didn't do much, what ul did was sick.

UNC didn't do that much? Ran fake programs, classes and essentially gave bogus degrees to basketball players for decades "isn't that much?" On top of that, had an ex-con help them run a "Wheels for Heels" program? They also set up a cushion job "hush money" for Will Graves, who was kicked off the team for his conduct, but was apparently okay enough to have some bogus job doing video for the Heels and living in a house owned by Roy?

What Louisville did was wrong and it's pretty gross. However, the strippers thing isn't that different than what many college football programs do where they have "hostesses" for recruits, which goes kind of like that scene in "He Got Game."

No way you can downplay a university giving bogus degrees as "not that much."

Well to be fair, Powell told everyone in an interview that “Coach Mike” is who she was in contact with after McGee left for another job

Get off my cloud punk... you aint stealing my (whatever it is Cal says?)

Also Powell mentioned a Coach Mike a year before Balado was ever employed by UL.... hmmm.

So the report makes it clear that Balado and Brandon Williams were in on this. But here is the most interesting part:

In addition, the records show McGee had contact with then-director of basketball operations David Padgett 12 times on July 22, 2014. During the five-day period identified by police, he also was in touch with U of L assistant coach Wyking Jones.

12 conversations with Pagett in one day? Wyking Jones, too. At some point, if everyone on the coaching staff knew what was going on, how could the head coach not know?

Also, biggest scandal aspect is UofL sat on this. This whole time the school has maintained publicly that McGee acted alone, and they knew that couldn't be the case. The whole place is crooked.

I had to go read the UL boards for humor after this news came out and OMG [laughing][laughing][laughing][laughing]

My favorite line was some poster at their Scout site saying that this doesnt mean much because UL is out of it now............. [roll] Poor fools dont realize yet that they have a long ways to go to be out of it... They really think hiring Mack signaled they were free and clear [roll]

Them only having wins vacated should be counted as a win for Louisville. They probably deserved another post season ban.

I don't see them making the tourney for a while anyways though.

Wouldn't it be something if right when they're competitive again the NCAA decides to hit them for the fbi stuff?

Pitino may have set UofL back 10 years. The irony...
