Could you have a buyout like that be deferred. So say your contract says you get 20 million if your fired. Your contract says 15 million is deferred until you get a divorce. So if you still love your wife you could get a divorce and collect it then remarry. If you don't love her. You get the divorce and it is not community property since you didn't get it while married.

Maybe we need an attorney to weigh in but I think the difference is in community property states the property belongs to each party. It may not end differently in Mississippi, but I do know the rule here is equitable distribution of the marital property rather than community property. In other words she may not be entitled to half his payment.
