He seemed different after the game. Distracted. Just seemed to me that he was just matter of fact and not really enjoying the win. Was anything going on ?

Yeah you know he’s not pleased with the offense yesterday. But they got the W which is what really matters. Defense did just enough and OU helped with the INTs.

Maybe it was not distraction but rather focus. I watched it again and did not get as much of that hint of something else going on. I was just concerned that maybe he had a family illness or something that was troubling him. Football focus is not a concern.

There was a video circulating on Facebook of Stein’s reaction to his defense blowing up the OU flea-flicker. Some were speculating that Stein was trash-talking the OU bench, claiming that he knew the play call. I don’t know if that is true or not, but certainly Stein looked locked in and competitive AF.

I can believe it. Stein has just the right amount of crazy outwardly competitiveness that shows itself at specific times while at the same time holding pre and post game pressers that would have you guessing he was in his 15th season as HC.

Thread should be deleted. Stein is dialed and taking a calculated approach to balancing winning, quick fame and notoriety with being humble/hungry. To his point, OU wasn't ranked, on to the next one. We've seen the excitement after the early wins, from here he will be locked in. That interview was trash and he was ready to go to the locker room to start the prep for Vandy.

He wasn't happy our team offensively did not play good we found a way to win thanks to our defense

I think this is it. We actually played really poorly and it was pretty evident by the tv shot that he took over late game play calling that resulted in the td drive at the end. If we play even decent on offense we win that game more convincingly. Sloan had some really weird strategy on the run game that I bet was a point of contention during planning.

One thing I noticed from him the last few games is he seems to remind everyone we are a really good team. I think he's getting exhausted with the narrative we're somehow just lucky.

He wasn’t happy with the way we played. We thankfully made some clutch defensive plays yet again. That’s what makes him great. He’s not satisfied with just winning. He wants to win the way we should. That’s why we will be so good under him. He has a high standard!

That is awesome. I love his confidence, it rubs off on our team. I think that’s why we come up with INT’s and fumbles so often when we need them. He always has them believing in themselves no matter how we are playing.

What shots suggest Stein took over playcalling?

Iirc it looked like he was calling some stuff vs a&m too. Its been rare but based on how he was speaking into the headset it sure looked like he was calling the plays.
I don't think he's calling plays at all. If you watch the UnKut episode on YouTube, you can hear him communicating but he's not calling plays. It's just communication on down/distance, personnel and situations (have the two point play ready if we score, etc). I mean, I think he's got the last word, but I didn't get the impression at all he was exercising it. Granted, UnKut I watched was from the LSU game.

I read a tweet that we are due to win a game not in a blowout (this is the SEC) but handily. You can't take any week for granted in this league and there are zero gimmies. Its been a wild first half of the season. That said, I'd love to beat Vandy by three scores. But admittedly I'll just take the win.

What will be most interesting to me will be to see how differently we look under Stein coming out of the bye vs Stoops. We seemed to never be ready. Maybe Stoops looked at the Bye as a vacation, or at least became more laxed and it showed in our performances essentially every year. I have to think, or hope, that Stein will have a completely different approach, win or lose.
