While we're waiting, I'll provide my $0.02 since it was my first visit

There's a severely unhealthy obsession of houndstooth, and the university educated fan ratio is assuredly the lowest in the country. However, major props to stadium management for cracking the seemingly unbreakable code in order to provide solid cell phone service on a college gameday. Also, the crowd noise was genuinely impressive. As loud as I've ever witnessed in a college stadium without the help of artificial noise... Enjoyed the actual video updates for SEC games too.

On the concessions side, I saw that Carolina Pride has sunk its claws into T-town as well. Seriously guys, this thing is spreading like an epidemic and it's gotta stop. My step brother ate one at kickoff and then barely made it through the 1st qtr. I asked him if he was sure that the nausea wasn't stemming from watching our defense, and he said that he was positive that it was the hot dog. Luckily, an unopened beer fell down from a skybox right about that time, and he quickly drank it. That seemed to settle things so I guess someone was watching out for us.

The only time I visited the stadium, State won. Some bama 'fan' kicked in the high back seat he paid for after the game. The only downside to the win, it sealed Shula's fate and in comes Satan.

The stadium itself is incredible...the people, however, are a walking, horrifying stereotype. My girlfriend and I were in N-7 (lower level end zone) and these seats were maybe 10 inches wide. We were uncomfortably wedged in next to a trucker from Baldwin County who got in a screaming, cussing argument with his old lady right before kickoff ("I can't deal with this 17in' ***** right now, it's 17in' KICKOFF!"). Below me and to the left were these redneck, inbred idiots complete with houndstooth "A" baseball caps who yelled "WOOOOOO ROLL TAHD!!" the whole game, one of whom almost tried to fight me after I cheered a Bama penalty (it was 21-0 at this point, mind you). The man sitting right below me and his Dad were the only two sane, knowledgeable fans around us. They were very respectful and I enjoyed talking to them.

Like someone said, they are simply a different breed.

You should have talked to me first. I could have given you some of the immutable laws of nature when dealing with Bama fans.

When Bama is good, their fans are incapable of at least one of the following, and usually more:
1) Admitting that their team does anything wrong or has any weaknesses, because someone might interpret that as them saying that they might one day lose a game
2) Admitting any other team might ever do anything right or have any strengths, because someone might interpret that as them saying that they might one day lose a game
3) Engaging in conversation about any other team without immediately directing the conversation back to themselves and how awesome they are
4) Recognizing that there are things in the world that matter more than Bama football. In fact, if you bring up Sandy to the average Bama fan, he probably thinks you are referring to Sandy Helms, an offensive lineman from the 1949-1950 seasons.

That's not atypical that for endzone or upper deck seats especially at a non-premium and OOC games...

It's not quite as bad for Tennessee, AU, LSU, or another bigtime SEC/OOC program...

Nice back-handed passive aggressive slap. Typical of Alabama fans, and a big reason I'm glad I'm not you.

And tea-bagging, of course.

I have been to a few games at BD, and have always felt it is like the Cowboys stadium in Dallas. It is the most impressive and nicest stadium in college football, but because of that, it loses a little bit on the intimidation factor. The team that plays there in obviously very impressive and intimidating, but the stadium itself is too nice to really make the visiting team feel uncomfortable. That to me is the main difference between Tiger Stadium and BD. Tiger Stadium has broken windows, steeper seats, fans are closer to the field, is a little more dingy, and at one time the lights of Tiger Stadium were even a little dim.

BD is much more impressive than Tiger Stadium, but because of that, when I go to BD, I feel safer, its nicer, and ultimately I feel more comfortable. However, due to all of those great things about BD, I think BD is less of a home field advantage than Tiger Stadium.

I agree with everything you said. However, it's my understanding they fixed up TS and it's not the dump it was last year...

I was overall impressed with BDS. I've circled the outside on several occasions, and finally broke the barrier of stepping foot inside last Saturday. All around, it is nothing short of all the hype it generates. On top of that, the content management of the jumbotrons, up-to-date scores on the ribbon boards, and a back bench on the bleachers was top notch compared to ours. Just having a back to my seat was a game changer compared to any other venue.

The one negative I can harp on is that I didn't enjoy being seated at the top of stadium and literally feeling like I was a mile away from civilization. To add to it, I didn't bring a pair of binoculars, so determining what was occurring on the field was a bit tougher than what I am accustomed to.

More of a coke guy. Save the tea for some defenseless LSU fan.....

I live in Tuscaloosa, have mostly Alabama fans for friends, and you nailed 'em! I really don't even like to see most of them during football season. Most of them were ok after our game against them. They just shook their heads, shrugged their shoulders, and left me alone - perhaps because I had a rather large cowbell in my hand. Some, though, were total asses. I will get to deal with them at some point in time and I cannot wait. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Unfortunately, this year I want to skip basketball season. If they are good in basketball, the same immutable laws of nature apply. 17 'em.

I don't get the whole houndstooth thing. Look at 100 pictures of Bear Bryant,

and MAYBE one of the hats in them will be houndstooth. The rest are just basic black and white checkered. How's that for an OT rant? Explain away TUSK.
