Let's say Lebby is let go at some point this season. Who would you rather have as a HC? Brian Kelly or Kalen Deboer if bama fires him for going 8-4 or 9-3?

I say Deboer

Obviously either would be a huge upgrade over Lebby, but DeBoer has the better resume without the "baggage"

I'd honestly rather we win some games this year and Lebby turns out to be a good offensive coach who is learning from past mistakes so he finally hired a good defensive coach and finally learned how to recruit offensive linemen who can work in this league, so he can stay and be successful here.

That would be much preferable and easier than hiring one of those retreads who hasn't been super successful recently. I know Deboer made the playoff, but ask any Bama fan and they think they're going in the wrong direction. Not sure how that translates to success in STK.

Uh I'd take Deboer who has won largely at every stop he's made at every level except at the place that skimped on NIL because they thought they could get by on simply being Bama over the guy who underachieved everywhere while generally being very unlikeable.

Edit to add: Plus I would rather avoid having Brian Kelly, whose recklessness killed a student videographer, anywhere near our program. That's a stink that hasn't washed off.

If DeBoer goes 8-4 at bama, he is bad and would probably do worse than Lebby here.
Reminds me of Jimbo Fisher. Everyone was begging us to go get him, but if you can't win at A&M with all the resources in the world, what the 17 can you do here? It seems so obvious to me.

It's maybe a little early to call it with Deboer at Bama, he may turn it around this year, but I'll have to see it.

the thought of saying B.Kelly (just typing it) makes me want to vomit.

I would have said DeBoer.....but legitimate point, if he can only do 8-4 @ Bama, he may not be a better option than Lebby

All that to say, I'm pulling for Lebby, and think he gets some traction this year

I would say Deboer also but tho Kelly couldn't seem to figure it out at LSU a coach with a .725 winning percentage is not too shabby. It would be a miracle if either wound up here. Naturally the vast majority of the posters here would be preschitting Kelly before ever made it to campus.

I would take a coach who is confident(see arrogant) enough to know he can win at Mississippi State. And by win, I mean consistently 8-4 with the occasional 9-3 and rare 10-2 but even more rare 6-6. Give me that and I’ll be back to buying season tickets and maybe even giving $25 per month to The Excellence Fund!😳

Mississippi State fans love big name coaches. I'm going to go out on a limb and say our next head coach will be a name 50-60% of the posters here and 95% of the fan base has never heard of.

I wouldn't discount Jimbo Fisher's name coming up in coaching searches in December. He's recently made it abundantly clear that he wants back in the game.

Kelly just for the accents while he says Noxapater, Oktibbeha, and Eupora. I imagine it would sound like a Pap’s Place commercial.
