It took an awfully long time before Rutgers was even mentioned as a possible destination. Maryland, Illinois, particularly heavily mentioned before RU. That's an indication how "popular" a job we are; as is the candidates we might get. Passing game co-ordinator??

May not bode well.

Thanks for posting the article. Two things that caught my attention.

1 - Jedd Fisch mentioned for Rutgers. I do not recall his name ever being mentioned and didn't even know who he was until today. Interesting background.

2 - For the Narduzzi camp, this tidbit was in the "random stuff" at the bottom, " The Panthers only had 19 sacks in 13 games last season — 13th in the ACC. Under new coach Pat Narduzzi, they have 36 sacks — No. 1 in the ACC and No. 5 in the nation."

What, no interest in a tennis player from East Hanover being the HC?

Dave Aranda, Doug Meacham those are my guys. You notice quite a few of the coordinators were named for G5 jobs not P5 jobs. Like I said you can get a coordinator and many mid major coaches to most P5 jobs out there.

BTW this is just a good list to see who's out there. I don't think he adds anything more than most of us would in linking coach to destination.

Anybody that thinks RU needs to wait a year to make a coaching change because of the number of openings should read this.
Probably around 45 of those 51 names would never come here. And the others we have a remote chance. You need to find a new list.

Narduzzi is doing a great job there.

Fisch grew up in East Hanover Township, New Jersey and attended Hanover Park High School.[2] Notably, Fisch did not play football at the high school or college level,[3] but instead was an all-state tennis player during his prep career.[4]

Fisch graduated from the University of Florida in 1998 with a degree in criminology.[5] He attended Florida almost solely for the opportunity to someday work for Florida head coach Steve Spurrier.[

He sure has a unique story of how he made his way up the coaching ranks.

Strong rumors out there that Justin Fuente is going to land at VT. Foster to stay on staff too. That's a nice combo of offensive HC and strong DC. If true nice job by them. Also plays into the rumors out there that Babcock was going to move quick in finding a new coach. We'll see if it's true.

Leaving: Frank Beamer. Arriving: The Dash is betting the mortgage on Memphis coach Justin Fuente, and betting that it happens quickly next week. Word is that athletic director Whit Babcock has his man, and has for a while now, and Fuente is that man. He’s done a remarkable job at previously moribund Memphis, going 18-6 over the past two seasons. It’s possible that tumbling dominoes at LSU and points elsewhere (namely Florida State) unspring this, but unlikely. A Fuente hiring would also keep Rich Rodriguez in place at Arizona.

Also about Rutgers:

Rutgers (17). Potentially leaving: Kyle Flood. Arriving: The Piscataway Fire Department, to put out the dumpster fire that is Scarlet Knights football. There are no reports that Flood will be fired, but neither has anyone in the school administration publicly stated support for the embattled coach. His popularity with fans has reached this level: a public service announcement featuring Flood that appeared on the stadium big screen Saturday during Rutgers’ home loss to Nebraska prompted a chorus of boos from the fans. After a season that has been miserable for many reasons beyond the 4-7 record, it’s very hard to envision a scenario in which Flood returns. Maybe Schiano comes to the wood-chopping rescue of his former school and replaces his former assistant, but it might be better for Rutgers to have a fresh start.

Many have lower level jobs right now, why wouldn't they want to coach at a Big Ten school?

Man people have really jumped on the Narduzzi bandwagon. Can we actually wait and see how he does? He's played three good teams and lost to all three while only beating two teams with 6-5 records. He has 1 four star recruit.

Thank you! No more gambling on assistants. If we are going to gamble, at least gamble with someone who has a track record. Not wowed at all by Pitt.

He also has a big commit for 2017, ranked #33 by Rivals currently.

You have to look deeper to see what Narduzzi is doing at Pitt. He is doing a great job on the defensive side of the ball and him and his recruiters are dogs on the trail. Rutgers is a better destination than Pitt in a lot of ways and Narduzzi is overcoming that and creating excitement, he will be a formidable foe on the recruiting trail for years to come.

On the other hand, the losses are to 11-0 Iowa, 10-1 UNC and 10-1 ND. He lost those games by 3, 7 and 12. That's not too bad.

When Wanny wins like that, he's an underachiever? When Narduzzi wins like that, he's a great coach? I am having trouble with the defensive genius talk when giving up 37 points to Youngstown, 42 to Notre Dame, 34 to Louisville, 28 to GT and 26 to UNC. Hey they did beat the Cuse, UVA, Duke, Youngstown and Akron!

I'm not anti Narduzzi, I was simply more pro Hermann. All I'm saying is let's see how it plays out. It's not like he took over a dumpster fire, the team won 7 games each of the prior years. Also, now Rutgers is a better destination? When Wanny and staff were eating Schiano's lunch on the trail it was because Pitt had more history and a nicer stadium.

Agreed on all counts, but both Pitt and RU are in different situations now. Pitt has an easier conference, but a worse fit. Pitt has a better stadium, but probably less fans. Pitt has more history, but is a clearly #2 in their state and has multiple other schools sitting in their immediate area. Which is a better destination? I don't know that I could say. Probably Pitt, just because they don't seem to have the dysfunction at the top and clear budget constraints.

The two are on very different levels right now, and that will be very clear after this season when either Herman's new Houston deal kicks in, or he takes another job. One isn't attainable, the other possibly will be.

Doesn'tmean I can't bring up the argument I had with many people over this last season. Also, any idea what his buyout is?

i think they won 6 games the last couple years.

hey, take it from a PSU fan.....Narduzzi's doing a great job with practically the same "crappy" team from last year.....with two new guys, Peterson (QB transfer from Tenn), J Whitehead, and WITHOUT James Conner.

he's won some close games against marginal teams (Virginia & Syracuse), but Pitt would've lost those games in previous years.

that being said, his recruiting has been less than impressive......he can't just win with the local kids......he's got no young talent at QB, OL, TE, & DL coming in.

I have never been to Heinz Field, but is it really a better stadium? I would have to think the smaller capacity of our stadium plus the usually larger crowds would give us the edge stadium wise.

Pitt can only take about 16 recruits this year total but I think Narduzzi will finish strong (good maybe not great) this year.
Currently we have 1 Rivals 4-star and 10 Rivals 3-star. With next years class you will see what Narduzzi will be able to do on the recruiting trail. He can get the most out of his players. James Connor gets injured and Redshirt Freshman RB Qadree Ollison from Niagara Falls NY steps in and gets 1011 yards to date with the Miami game remaining.

Player development: I watched some of the the PSU/Michigan game. Rivals 4-Star Hackenberg was 13 for 31 with 1 TD and maybe 147 passing yards. How many yards did your rivals 4-star RB get to date.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Herman lost to UConn.

I would have gladly taken either Herman or Narduzzi, but let's be honest, passing on BOTH was a major fark up by our genius "big donors" who wanted Golden or Franklin instead, or Tressel who has a show cause.

Then they couldn't collect three cents for Mullen and we are stuck with Flood.

The lack of leadership is staggering.

Stats don't really tell the story.......Tom Brady & Barry Sanders would've had similar same stats behind our OL......plus, Michigan's pretty darn good

I was beyond UNIMPRESSED with Heinz when we went a few years ago. If you guys think that Metlife was a waste of $$$, when it comes to amenities, go to this dump. I felt like I was at a high school stadium when I was getting food and drinks.

On campus college stadium > NFL stadium every time. I don't care about how cushy the club seats are.
