It's started sort of underwhelming. Last year was much more fun with the Nebraska and Wisconsin movements.

Georgia is the best job on the table It is 100 per cent a football school with a recruiting base second to none. It has very wealthy boosters. There is nothing to keep it from being Top 5 EVERY year. If their AD makes the right call, watch out

Kirby smart is the guy they want.

IMO, Brohm would have been a good fit at Illinois.
I believed that UGA fulmered all over themselves if they trade Richt for Smart. But, that's okay by me.
Panic must be setting in at USC (Gamecocks) - apparently, Muschamp is now the leading candidate. I'm dumbfounded. But, that's okay by me...

If I were Georgia, I think I'd hold out a bit to see what happens with Chip Kelly. Could you imagine what that guy could do with Georgia athletes? They could be scary good. I'm just not 100% sold on Kirby Smart. He might develop into a good HC. Or he could just as easily (and probably more likely) become another Will Muschamp. Taking a risk on a coordinator is not something a school like Georgia should be doing. Their program should be attractive to nearly ANYONE. Hell, I'd consider it one of the top 5 jobs in the nation just based on the fertile local recruiting ground alone.

He will never coach at Illinois. He was one of the coaches that was going to boycott their bowl game several years ago.

I've lived in Atlanta for 25 years.

As of last week they were mixed about the Mark Richt situation, but some have changed this year.

I gave my list to some of my knowledgeable UGA fans.

Before they dig deep, I would talk to Chip Kelly and Jimbo Fisher. It's very likely each would say no.

Some don't want a Chip Kelly type. They are stuck on the pro-style offense. Some are even stuck on getting a coach that will be attractive to Jacob Eason!

I told them they have to get the best coach available!

I am partial to coaches with at least a little HC experience....and I am partial to an offensive-oriented coach. That way...if you have success and the OC coordinator leaves, there can be a reasonable transition to the new OC.

And...

I am confident that Georgia is NOT one of the top five college HC jobs.

Following are better...in no particular order:

Texas
Florida
Florida State
Ohio State
USC
LSU
Alabama

First of all our AD wouldn't willingly spend the money for Kelly. Secondly UGA always hires from the assistant ranks, every coach except 1 for the last 75 years UGA was their first head coaching job, the one was Jim Donnan and he came from an FCS school, or DII at the time. No all of them haven't worked out, but the only real fails were Goff and Griffin.

Who do you want to be the next coach?

I still say Miami should throw everything at Richt to get him to Miami. He played at the U. He would still get great GA recruits and would recruit FL very easily. I think Miami would be back quite quickly with him in charge.

UGA will regret letting him go....that much I am sure of.

Cross UCF off the list...Scott Frost...

gonna have to keep an eye on him the next couple years...if he does well, he may be the leader in the club house if things go south here...

IMO, Mike Riley will fail at Nebraska and if Frost does decent at UCF, they will be licking their chops to bring him back. Riley was 29-33 in his last 5 years at Oregon State. He is destined to fail.

Hopefully at UK either next year or the year after if Stoops can't get it figured out.

I don't think I would want Kiffin as a head coach. He was a failure at Tennessee and USC, two football powers. Maybe as an offensive coordinator if he had a strong head coach.

Hoping Brohm stays put another year so we can hire him after the inevitable 3-9/4-8 and empty commonwealth next year.

Don't think Richt would be comfortable recruiting in "the 'Hood" down there. :flushed:

Where do you guys think Kiffen will end up and when? I see him taking another job after this year.

I think the verdict is out on the Pete Carroll posse. They have mostly turned out to be terrible head coaches (Chow, Kiffen, Orgeron, Sarkisian). Who am I missing?
