Holy krepe that's a lot of schools..
A father called into the Dave Ramsey show the other day and he was asking Dave how to convince his son that gambling on sports wasn't a replacement for investing in the stock market. His son's philosophy was that the stock market is a gamble just like betting on sports. He said he was fighting an uphill battle because all of his friends were involved in betting using mobile apps which was normalizing that behavior for his son.Honestly what did people think would happen when sports gambling is so easily available?
Available and plastered all over every part of sports these days.
I think I heard that call too. I have always been of the mindset to let people do what they want with their money - "a fool and his money" is a proverb, but I am not sure that this unfettered access to gambling is a good idea.A father called into the Dave Ramsey show the other day and he was asking Dave how to convince his son that gambling on sports wasn't a replacement for investing in the stock market. It's not new, but it's a LOT more widespread now than it ever was. This is not new, point shaving has been going on forever. The proliferation of gambling online has made it much easier for people to get caught doing it, and you'll continue to see these type of things get busted. Now, whether it being so widely available to young people to the point that its normalized as if it's the same as investing in the stock market, that's a different and important conversation.

We were in on it during the early 60s.Maybe we are in on it. That would at least make me feel better about our team.
My libertarian streak ended when:I think I heard that call too. I have always been of the mindset to let people do what they want with their money - "a fool and his money" is a proverb, but I am not sure that this unfettered access to gambling is a good idea.
That Proverb is 100% true, but it doesn't apply to children. You still have to "Train your child up in the way he should go".I think I heard that call too.
