NY Times says,

"Until Rutgers figures out how to dominate New Jersey’s prospect-rich but nationally-known high schools, the Scarlet Knights’ coaching job will continue to look like a poisoned chalice."

Um - thats the dumbest thing Ive ever read. Rutgers can dominate NJ recruiting simply by picking a good coach. The issue is that we dont particularly want to pay up for that and arent willing to take the risk that would come with an up and comer.

Can we stop this NJ prospect rich BS. We need to get our share of top prospects from NJ, PA, and MD. Sprinkle in Florida and Ohio, plus a few others. People who equate NJ recruiting in the same area as Fla and Texas lose all credibility. A coach with strong (NJ, PA, MD, and Florida ties) would be great.

The always crucial New Jersey connection. If we learned one thing with Shea it was that no matter how much you bring to the table, it is imperative to have some connection to Jersey.

Yeah but the argument is that Rutgers is the most talent rich state that does not have any other in-state schools. I think NJ's consistently ranked in the top 10 each year, and unlike TX, CA and FL, there aren't a half a dozen other schools within.
