"Fitting announced that as long as both Alabama and Ole Miss remained undefeated, College GameDay will be going to Ole Miss and The Grove for the Rebels’ Oct. 4 matchup against the Crimson Tide. This will be College GameDay’s first-ever time in Oxford, Mississippi."

In case you were wondering...They will both be undefeated going into that game unless hell freezes over....

"Ole Miss faces Vanderbilt on the road this weekend and will then play two home games against UL Lafayette and Memphis before facing off against Alabama."

We are playing TAMU that weekend and should have a good record assuming we beat either Auburn or LSU. Thoughts on the bears being the first to host Gameday?

With the exception of landing the number 3 or 4 recruiting class in the SEC West two years ago, Ole Miss has done nothing, zippo, nada to earn College Gameday.

If we beat LSU, is Gameday really going to pass on a team that has earned it, or are they just going to give it a team that can't run the ball, with a below average QB, that has beaten a few cupcakes?

Seems ridiculous to me.

If we beat LSU, then MSU-Texas A&M would be more deserving of hosting it than Ole Miss-Alabama, but whatever.

We could potentially host it the very next week against Auburn.

And what have we done to earn it???

We beat USM = garbage
Play UAB = mediocre
@ USA = they have football????

Don't call OM's schedule cupcakes without realizing ours is easier than theirs. We should be 3-0 playing LSU.

The only reason I need to know Gameday is at Ole Miss is so I don't watch Gameday on that Saturday.

I'm talking about hosting it the week we play A&M, which is the same week Ole Miss plays Bama. This means we would had to have beaten LSU. If we do that, we would deserve Gameday far more than Ole Miss, who would have beaten virtually nobody.

The Rajin Cajuns may have a big say in that one. I'd say 75% likely that they would have beat them in Atlanta had they played instead of Boise based on what I saw. No way Bucky gets the Bears as fired up for ULL as Hud will have his boys fired up to play them.

Bama has Florida the week before the Bears. They should win, but you never know.

My take is this is not as close to a done deal as some are thinking. 50-60% chance would be my take at this point. What would be priceless would be to see them stumble and have us take care of business and take it away from them. This isn't a questionable NCAA transfer or a FOIA request that they can wriggle around, ESPN won't come this early in the season unless they are both undefeated no matter how many strings they try to pull.

Lee Fitting has been talking about going to Oxford for two years. He's obsessed with the Bears. If they go there, then I believe that will leave only one of the current 14 teams that gameday hasn't been.

Fine, I don't give a ****. I think it's a shot at Ole Miss that Gameday hasn't been there yet. It is the most renowned tailgate spot in the country yet the product on the field has been so sub-par that it negates any consideration to do Gameday at the site. In summation, 17 your dog and pony show, I'll take results in the field all day long.

the gameday guy was on PAWWWW today and (im paraphrasing obviously), om fans have been hounding gameday to go to oxford for years upon years. they would circle a day and om would fall on their face with an unexpected loss and that deal would fall through. the gameday people seem to want to do it (if for nothing else, to stop the harassment...and im only half way kidding). it will likely be in oxford this season and maybe then we can stop hearing about it. i think it could be interesting especially if om does what om does when the nation is watching....if you know what i mean.

unfortunately, the nation wants to see the grove. one of the gameday guys has said they have been trying to get to oxford for years...he even mentioned being in oxford a decade a go to check on the logistical and layout issues. gameday is about timing, matchups, participant teams (normally, no repeat participants), and sometimes, a bit of luck. its not always about who is most deserving. just accept that fact, sit back, and watch the show and maybe something classic ole miss will happen.

TROLL TIME. State fans should dress as OM fans and wave rebel flags with signs saying the south will rise again.

State fans will not have to troll. There will be so many Alabama fans there....the casual viewer will not know if they are in MS or AL.

As for someone above comparing our schedule to theirs, would you say we deserve gameday if the LSU game was in Starkville? That's the point.

That's not the point. If both Miss. schools are undefeated, State would deserve to host Gameday, having beaten LSU in Red Stick.

As for the LSU weekend, State will probably be ranked. The only other Top 25 matchup would be No. 23 Clemson at No. 1 Florida State. Gameday would prefer Florida at No. 2 Alabama though.

Vandy gave up less than 400 yds but turned the ball over 7 times. SEVEN!! I doubt that will happen today. OM will be over confidant on D and miss some easy tackels and miss on some plays. Will vandy will take advantage of those? This game will be closer than Rebs want because vandy always seems to plays them tough. Bosie really controlled the LOS on D other than paidwell and really just the 4th quarter OM realy struggled on offense.
Like someone else said ULL is going to give black bears fans a heart attack. I'm calling it ULL will upset OM. Memphis is much much improved They scored 63 last weekend and there D is pretty damn strong this year. Ole miss will have a loss out of these next three

Why? They'll be enough Ole Miss fans already doing that.

I guarantee there will be a rebel flag rally if Gameday comes. I just hope there's not a Klan rally too.

We would have won in Baton Rouge at night -- something only Tebow and McCarron can say they've done in the Miles era in Baton Rouge.

Having a hard time figuring out why I

Should care about this. It was bound to happen just like someday they will make it to Atlanta and someday we will host Gameday too. Let's worry about what we can control.

We'll deserve it if we beat LSU in Baton Rouge, which we won't. They WON'T deserve it if they lose to Vandy today, which they won't. Any other result is just water cooler argument fodder.

Fine by me if they want ESPN in town for them getting embarrassed by Bama.

This. It's nice p.r. for the school and I hope msu gets their week in the spotlight for sure but have any of you seen the crowd at gameday or actually been there. It's kind of a lame atmosphere until the end. I'm more worried about results rather than showmanship. Rest assure that with gameday or no gameday the Mississippi black bears and MSU Bulldogs are going to be still at the same level competitively (bottom half of sec) until they prove it on the field.

Don't care. Their fans will rightfully be extremely excited about it. It will be bigger than the Texas tailgate weekend. And then after they win the party, Bama will win the game. No big deal.
