College Gameday: "Why would Cam need an agent?"

Just now on College Gameday was the most I have heard anyone (except for Herbie's radio show) on ESPN talk about the Newton investigation. They gave a bunch of quotes from Cam and Cecil, but then began to question WHY Cam would even contact or hire an agent to match him with a school.

"He's the number one ranked junior college player in the nation and came from Florida, why would he even need to contact someone like Kenny Rogers?". The tone was as if questioning whether or not Rogers' was acting on Cam/Cecil's behalf or just on his own. They continue to insinuate that Dan/MSU/Bond turned in AU. Ridiculous

How bout this: Cam/Cecil would want an agent to talk to schools if they wanted 200 GRAND to commit.

they seemed to insinuate that there's more guilt there for Auburn and especially the Newtons. Let's face it, the Newtons are particularly smart people. Cam included.

exactly. you would need an agent if you were going after 200k. i mean no person in their right mind would handle that personally.

going back to when Cam left Florida. If Cecil was anything but scum at some point in those two years he would have recognized what Rogers was and cut all ties. Cecil is dirty , Rogers is dirty and there are some dirty Auburn boosters out there somewhere.IF the NCAA wants to get to the bottom of it they can.

I also have a question about what the SEC knew and when they knew it. I.E. when did the SEC inform the NCAA that some improprieties had been reported to them ?

This story has a lot of moving parts but in the end MSU is going to be just fine.

That organization probably has someone else inside the Auburn family to do that. Rogers was probably a guy tasked only for MSU. So in essence, the Newtons, Auburn and Rogers aren't technically lying. They just aren't offering the truth.

I don't think anyone in the MState family believes Bond is making this up. I wouldn't expect Auburn to do anything else but deny at this point.

one time when he was introduced to him by Cecil at the egg bowl last year. Why in the hell would Cecil be there with Rogers and insert Rogers into the recruiting relationship going on with Mullen / MSUat that time other than to say - this is our point person for working a deal? The situation stinks. Just hope the NCAA is willing to get to the bottom of it.

I am glad that we were aggressive/proactive in covering our ***. If we had done things the way we had done them in the past, we would not have told the SEC anything, and we would have been tarnished just by being involved with the Newtons. Now, we can say we abided by the rules from day one. As far as Bond, if he had not issued a statement, you can be sure that ESPN would have been insinuating a lot worse stuff on Gameday. Face it: Dealing with the Newtons was going to be trouble from Day 1, so we had to CYA every step of the way. I am glad we did.

I imagine Mullen will be interviewed by the NCAA over this meeting/introduction, if he hasn't already.
