but tv ratings were down, I wish there was a way for college baseball to have a bigger audience, outside of the fans of the two teams playing for the final, not many people watch

The 2013 College World Series drew a total of 341,483 fans, making this year’s championship event the most attended CWS in history.
The attendance of 27,127 fans for Tuesday’s championship game between UCLA and Mississippi State is the largest crowd for a CWS championship game final, and also marked the largest single-game crowd in TD Ameritrade Park history.
The 2013 Series drew an average crowd of 24,392 fans per game — 2,610 more than the 2012 series and 1,415 more than the 2011 average.

There must be something going on here. Why in the world would that many people show up for a college baseball game between those two teams? Must have been a free Lynyrd Skynyrd show afterwards.

That's probably about right. There were quite a few more UCLA people there for game 2 than for game 1. Also, most of them weren't wearing any UCLA gear, so they were sometimes hard to spot. During game 1, two Jersey Shore types in Lakers jerseys and horrible tats sat behind me dropping f-bombs for most of the first couple of innings. Only one of them seemed to be actually watching the game.

Most of the UCLA people I met weren't the tofu yacht club type, they were more the wear sunglasses at night while sporting a UCLA hat with a flat bill and the sticker still on it that they bought on the way into the gate douchebag types.

I was there and I honestly think LSU fans outnumbered UCLA fans. I talked to one vendor that said the same thing.

I hate it for their baseball team. A team that good deserves better support.

Yup, we were in the same area. I moved closer to the bullpen in game 2. I thought the dude who popped the ball in game 2 was going to be on the receiving end of a crowd sourced *** kicking. That said, I was really tired of the beach balls myself, so there was a small part of me that was on his side. I just wasn't being such a prick about it.

What's funny is when the records were announced, the UCLA fans went crazy, and someone in my section said, "I don't know what they're cheering about- they have the least room of anyone to claim any part of that. We have just as many that couldn't get in that would have been here in a heartbeat if they could."

He's right- we could have broken the record with just the fans that we brought.

I also saw more LSU fans than UCLA, but they probably all had the two weeks planned into their vacation to celebrate their title way beforehand too.
