It's colora-do, they don't know any better and strive for average.Smokin

Macintyre hired Jim Levitt as defensive coordinator who now is Oregon's new defensive coordinator..

Hardly would call that average. Would you?

you have to look at it from their perspective.. they just see a coach that has Nebraska on his resume, so they're going to want some of that.. sort of like your rival's ex-girlfriend.. did I really just make that comparison? hahaha oh well.

There is a lot of criticism going around of former assistant coaches at Nebraska that probably is just second-hand criticism that should be directed at their ex-boss.

Els isn't that great, but he wasn't that bad either. He knows some football. He's good enough to coach somewhere. CU probably fits.

Heck, North Carolina pretty much has an entire defensive staff of ex-Husker coaches.

Talk to me when Colorado gets way above average for several years. LEAVITT is a good coach, but obviously he didn't think cu was above average enough to hang around and left quickly. But we're talking Els and cu here, hence the average.

But I do know Leavitt is big on hitting, loves that contact.

He was funny to watch at LSW. Made sure before the game that everyone thought he was the smartest guy in the room. The guy was jotting down notes on our JV guys running warmup routes for Cripes sake, while every other coach on the field was trying to get their own guys ready to go.

MacIntyre is a good coach, but he'll have hard time assembling and keeping a solid staff at CU. Hamstrung by a relatively low budget and restrictions on how many multi-year contracts the CU athletic department is able to issue. Leavitt was a great hire but you figured he would move onto greener pastures - and he even had a pretty big contract at CU.

There were a lot of loud mouths on RSS back in the day that criticized NDSU for making Craig Bohl their head coach.

Coach Mac's contract extension is in limbo, pending the Regents review of circumstances surrounding an assistant coach who was accused of domestic violence before the bowl game. the coach wasnt fired until after the bowl game. Two attorneys are getting $1200/hour (total) to compile the facts and make a recommendation.

CU couldn't come close to UO at $1.15 million and four year contract. Interesting Leavittt has a penalty if he leaves early except to be head coach at Kansas State.

This is my favorite post on this thread. It isn't necessarily that former NU staffers "sucked" here as fans often said, it was their ex-boss.

I may sound like a madman but I have had the same sentiments toward Tim Beck who Urban Meyer hired at Ohio State. It has been on record that Urban Meyer often made the final call, yet OSU fans repeatedly blamed Beck for their losses. I know I did not particularly like Beck when he was here but Meyer hiring him at Ohio State and Tom Herman hiring him at Texas only makes me think about how much our former coach controlled things in just an average way.

Our former staffers are in decent spots. If only our former head man had not been so stubborn as HC.

Ok, maybe I'm being too hard on Els. Can someone give me evidence of on field performance getting better with him as coach? Maybe Bo was to blame but for instance when Bo took over special teams they immediately got better. Show me a time when Els took over that something immediately got better or even incrementally got better.

Well, he was at least incrementally better than the prior recruiting coordinator at NU.
