Totally agree. After the first flashback, it was obvious the message they wanted to get across; they didn't need to take half the show to do it. Loved Rick going zombie, but the rest was predictable and total meh for me.

When they asked them to show their weapons Rick put down two pistols. Right before they gave them back and Rick saw the watch and went into Rage Rick mode. He put down his side pistol and another pistol he had in the back.

I missed it as well but my son clued me in. We went back and reviewed it and sure enough he only laid down his side pistol and knife before they put them in the rail car.

ok, so i first watched it, i was wondering if he was hiding a gun as well. here is what i just reviewed. in the woods, outside of terminus, rick has his colt python holstered.....after michonne and carl have their conversation, he puts the bag in the hole, unzips it, pulls out the 1911, checks the magazine, swaps it with the colt as his side-carry, puts the colt in the bag, and burys it. they go into terminus, lay their weapons down (looks like his 1911 and a knife), get frisked on the sides and it is unclear if gareth checks rick's back belt area, but he does go to ricks rear and visibly pats him on his back after coming from below the camera frame. his knife and gun are handed back by alex....

the scene proceeds to the shootout....rick still holding the 1911. fast forward to the rear of terminus with the boxcar and he tosses the same 1911 and his knife.

he may have a 4th weapon, but his colt python is in the blue bag buried "just in case", his 1911 is on the pavement, and his knife is on the pavement. unless i am missing something, he is out of weapons. like i said, i thought he might have an additional gun stowed, but his ever-trusty python is not with him, and i dont recall seeing any other sidearm in his possession. ive combed through it a few times just to make sure.

also, i just noticed that the 1911 that rick has was the one he dug up while farming the prison during "30 days without an accident". symbolism for sure.

I've rewatched as well and didn't see it. However, the whole scene of burying the bag and the "Just in case!" line emphasized tells me that he has a back up plan.

I never thought the season would end with them trapped at Terminus. I figured they were the cannibals but thought that they would fight it out and escape and the season would end with them headed towards DC.

I'll go back and review tonight. He may have only had one gun, but he does have the stash as y'all mentioned.

You're really not suggesting the quality of mad men is somehow less or equal to twd? I liked the first season of the walking dead but everything has been essentially downhill from there in my opinion. At one point i only watched because I considered it better than most shows, but nothing more. however I've always considered the acting pretty bad. Point is you can find flaws in every show but this one has way too many for me (acting and writing/story lines). I understand why people watch but I can longer do the same.

Agreed, it is just bad and I've officially tuned out...didn't watch a single episode of this season.

What I don't get is that any time someone mentions the atrocious writing and acting on this show they get accused of not wanting storyline and just wanting non-stop instant gratification, violence and gore. Um...no...people want storyline, they just want GOOD storyline, that MAKES SENSE, that is INTERESTING, and that is WELL-ACTED. It's sad because we've seen TWD be very good in the past, so we know there is potential there, but the storyline just keeps getting more ridiculous, and the acting just keeps getting worse.

I'll agree that the acting is not good. The writing is tough to judge. The thing that makes TWD good is that it's different. There are times when the writing seems bad, but they're also doing something different from other apocalypse or zombie movies, and trying to keep the story line going for many hours after the typical movie/show would be over. So I can be a little forgiving if the writing seems hackish at times.

The show about flesh eating zombies is getting ridiculous? I agree, I hate zombie shows that are unrealistic.**

I doubt it. Do the terminus folks need to venture out?

Seems like everything they need comes to them.

I'm in the same boat

I watched this season just because I have so much time invested in the series from watching all the previous seasons. I started to lose interest about halfway through last season because the governor thing drug out way too much. This season was just people walking through the woods and some unnecessary character development scenes that a keen viewer doesn't need (was it really necessary to explain that Hershel was the one who taught rick how to farm? or that Darrel use to be a waste of space redneck?) It's become a constant cycle of our characters running into another group, conflict, our team winning, then moving on to the next group and another conflict. I've been ready for them to advance the plot into more of a grand scheme of 'wt17 is going on with the world' and how can our characters help fix it. They started going that direction with Abraham's group but the acting and writing for those 3 losers was so atrocious that I laughed at it.

My gf just started watching this season and we watched a few Season 1 episodes on netflix to give her some background. It became evident that this show is now just a vague memory of the good tv that it use to be and just serves to keep me occupied between Game of Thrones seasons.

I have hope - many of the story slowing characters died.

As everyone knows, Lori was the worst. Andrea was whining and indecision personified. Hershel, while written and acted appropriately, turned many episodes into a crawl. The only other big hurdle was Rick. His wavering between action and inaction was stuck on repeat. Hopefully new Rick wont continue that trend. And to anyone who ever worries about Daryl, dont. The creator himself has said that Daryl makes him way too much money off merch, and that while he has artistic integrity, he's not stupid. Plus, you can guarantee Rick and Carl stick around. Rick is the star of both show and comic, and Carl is slated to take over when Rick does finally die.
