As long as the conference has a vested interest in certain teams winning, it's never going to be completely fair. No, I'm not suggesting Mike Slive is in the referee's earpieces and formally directing anything, but it should be obvious by now which teams get more favorable calls and which teams don't.
Officiating should be subcontracted out to a neutral third party, and refs should be fined for missing obvious calls. That would help take care of some of the BS. Also, if there were an easy way always spot the balls using technology instead of what the ref thinks he saw over a split second, that would help too. If the technology isn't available now, it will be soon.
