Essex 16 Rappahannock 19 Final. Good win to the Raiders.

Wondering if VHSL gonna let Rappahannock host in Warsaw. They have less seating than Essex had with the old bleachers back in the day. Essex had to move the state semi games to King George, King William and Middisex for 3 state semi games before we upgraded.

They should move the game to King George. Plenty of seating and would be very comfortable for everyone.

They have a cute little stadium at Rappahannock. Too bad it seats about nine people.

Wherever it is played, be prepared for the Bison. They have already won three playoff games on the road, all by double digits, and they are the best 7-6 team you will ever see.

Not sure whey this is even a question....Rapp has just as much visitor side seating as Essex and they hosted 2yrs ago. There is video footage of Essex seating and Rapp seating so don't create a narrative where it's not needed.

You are right, Essex & Rappahannock’s visitor side is the same but Rapp’s home side is smaller. Even when Essex added seating to the visitors side for state semi games in the past, along with bathrooms, we were told we had to move the game to other locations in future state semi games due to a school Essex beat in the semi complaining. I personally hope Rapp get to play at home. Heck, more people choose to stand along the fence even when there’s seats available. It’s just a thought that I was wondering if it still was a thing. Even though I feel like it was more of a picking on Essex back then. Good luck to Rappahannock next week.

Does this make Rappahannock the favorite to win it?
If Buffalo Gap keeps playing the way they've been playing, they are going to be hard to beat. Obviously, as a Riverheads fan, I'm a little bias, but I thought the way we had been playing, we could win it all. But Gap blew that out of the water! They have their own plays, but they reminded me a lot of the dominant play style of the championship winning Riverheads teams. They effectively run it down your throat over and over eating up the clock. They wear the defense down and then start busting out long, explosive runs. Goff scored every touchdown against us but they have multiple weapons. They are very disciplined.

Instead of going to King George if they can't host themselves, they should play at Westmoreland. Westmoreland has a nice new stadium that's only a couple of years old that they would pass on the way to King George. Westmoreland is a short trip to a familiar stadium for the folks in Richmond County/Warsaw.

I see where Grayson County/Rye Cove is being played at Gate City. I wouldn’t have a problem with the VHSL going neutral sites for State Semi’s.

That whole W&L/Westmoreland rebuild is really quite impressive. The school opening up from the cafeteria dumping into a courtyard outside the stadium is so nice.

I didn’t know about their new stadium. That would definitely be closer for them and their fans.

for those that are interested. I posted this a few years back when Essex seating was an issue for hosting. Here is the link to VHSL site that states the requirements to host. Hosting State Events - VHSL
open the link and click on resources, there you will find the requirements for hosting semi and final for each class.

Did No. 2 the Madison kid is his name I believe play in the Rapp/Essex regular season game?
He and 1 or 2 others weren’t 100% in that game. This game he was but he didn’t put up any serious yards rushing. As a team, Rapp had 25 carries for 60 yards rushing according to our local paper. Madison had 16 carries for 46 yards They did their damage with passing 10-19 for 188 yards. Two of those passes went for 60+ yards. One was a TD and the other was 2 yards shy but they punched it in later. Essex’s DBs struggled with passing teams this year compared to last season. I believe Essex graduated 7 starters from last years defense. Last years DBs only allowed 8 points during the whole playoffs. Good luck to all the final four teams 1A-6A.
