Maybe the SEC wasn't so bad after all this season. The conference will be 5-0 in the tourney if Texas and A & M hold on to their lead with Georgia still to play tonight.
I’ve asked you time and time again and you refuse to answer so I will ask again. Who would you replace Jans with and why would they be an upgrade?
I don’t think the question is who you’d replace him with—there are plenty of good coaches at smaller programs (just look at A&M). The real question is whether you can afford to keep someone at that salary who’s trending in this direction. He hasn’t shown the ability to develop talent or recruit at a high level, so what are you really getting for that kind of investment, and what indications do you have of change?
His track record. Since his first year at New Mexico State (17/18) he’s missed the tournament 3 times. 19/20 because of Covid a year that he beat Howland’s second best team in Jackson, 20/21 the weird covid schedule season and this year. So I have every reason to believe he’ll have us back in the tournament next year

Since we are another year into the NIL lunacy; he's having issues evaluating and building talent. The signs are there he's not gonna get it done, but in bulldog fashion we'll hold on one or two years too long.

What are the signs? The portal hasn’t opened yet so we don’t know how his “talent evaluation” will be for next season. 3/4 years he’s done something we had only done once in 13 years before him
We have won 10 ncaa tournament games in our entire program history. We have to pay him a top 20 salary because of the league we’re in. Also let’s not act like we’ve been embarrassed in the tournament. 2 close losses and an awful game against hall of fame Izzo is our results

Thank you for that stellar analysis. Would our job be desirable to a hypothetical candidate that’s also hypothetically better than Jans if we fired his predecessor for making the 12th, 13th, and 14th tournament appearance in program history in his first four years?

Did he build anything in the 3/4 years before now that makes you confident ? If the past few years makes you think we can get where some of us "old men" know where our basketball program could be. Enlighten us, one and done is not where this program should be. You have proven nothing about who our coach should be.
See that’s actually a fair criticism. Our coach should be Chris Jans because in the real world he shouldn’t be fired yet. The biggest issue that no one seems to talk about for his first 4 years was the misses in high school recruiting. Up until the class of 2025 his only good gets were Hubb and Shawn Jones. His 25 class showed some promise once he actually started to play Grace and JDF and 26 class looks good on paper so if he can develop those classes along with better portal evaluations he can get us back on track fairly quickly just like he’s done at every school he’s been at
