Copeland to the Hall?

I believe many are overthinking this.

First off we're talking about an assistant coaching position.

The way I see it, besides the obvious alumni connection is we are hiring a man who has sat in the position of former head coach, with the responsibility of running an entire program. That experience is invaluable,

Secondly, Copeland being an overachieving guard in his own right will help Holloway with the PG, 2G and wing positions. Imparting his own wisdom from years as both a player and a coach. When you are a previous 2nd team All Big East player you will have the ear of the players.

Thirdly, the two coaches like each other. That may not seem overly important, but look back just a few years when Willard and Fred Hill were on the staff. They were both hard working with a common goal, but behind the scenes they did not like each other. That will not be an issue here as the chemistry between the two is top notch.

Forth, Holloway is hiring a man who has spent countless year at Seton Hall, meaning he knows the lay of the land so he can start from a position of strength with no learning curve.

In short, Holloway did an extensive search into Copeland's past. That search led to nothing but praise and the fact that Copeland learned from both the arguably best HS coach ever in Bob Hurley and a former Big East COY in Kevin Willard.

I look at this situation as a win/win for all concerned, with little to no risk.

I think your points are spot on about Copeland.

But if I was making the decision, I would have passed based on his recent issues at Wagner. If was longer time frame from Wagner removal, or he went somewhere else and rebuild his rep, I might feel differently.

In the end, doubt will matter too much positive or negative, so really not too big a deal.
