KP would be putting a band-aid on a much larger issue. Again, if any of us were relatively talented at judging collee basketball coaching talent, we wouldnt be posting on SPS. Good hire.

If I was Stricklin I would be worried. Already hearing that people are going to pull their money their Basketball from Bulldog Club donations and putting it towards Football. This is almost as bad as Ole Miss hiring Freeze. I hope Keenum steps in and changes this decision.

for what reason? Name a few people available that were obviously interested in MSU that we didn't actively pursue?<div><div>
</div><div>Name a few reasons why Rick Ray hasn't proven he's ready to be a head coach?</div><div>
</div><div>There's a reason we have an AD, people. There's also a reason fans and boosters aren't the ones calling the shots. We have people that have proven to be competent at their jobs, why don't we trust that we have the right people in those spots for a reason and give a guy that has had a few hours at the helm the benefit of the doubt for a while before we start encouraging people to pull funding because we're not sure we made a popular hire. </div><div>
</div><div>There are good coaches that don't come from Kentucky.</div> </div>

And that's what coachL and mud dawg and their merry bunch of sources and experts are right now. They are acting childish, simply because they did not get their way. It's basically, immaturity.

Thank God (whichever one you choose) you don't work for our Athletic Department.<div>
</div><div>And don't get me wrong, this could be a terrible hire. But spreading this kind of vibe is JUST THE WORST. The man hasn't even had his press conference yet. Stricklin has proven he's more than capable of making savvy hires. Please tell me you've come back down to Earth. Please.</div>

the guy hasn't coached a game. The hire isn't a name hire but he has the opportunity to prove himself. If he doesn't, then he and Stricklin will be judged.

If I had a father-in-law that was an NBA Hall of Famer, you best believe he'd be getting a phone call about every single candidate I looked at. I'm not flipping out like most and I'm disappointed we couldn't reel in Groche(sp?) or Martin, but from every indication, Stricklin busted his *** to find solid candidates. He knew we probably couldn't (or would have a very hard time) land a high profile name or lure a good midmajor coach from their school. He had to take a risk because of the position we are in, and the more I read about this guy, the more I like him. However, judgement comes from the product on the floor, so the jury is still out on whether it was worth the risk or not.

I am also somewhat pleased he did not bow down to a select group of folks who tried to strongarm their choice on him. Time will tell if he made a good choice but for all of you who screamed for change, you got it so the least you could do is give the new guy support. All I have heard on this board ever since coach starting his fire Stansbury campaign is we need an X&0 coach. If this guy turns out to be a bust, then you'll have to deal with it. I hope he succeeds because I don't want to stoop as low as some of you did. Now, some of you accused me of being an *** kisser with our former coach, I laughed because just because some folks are friends, doesn't mean they are bad. Rick Stansbury is a good guy and I am sure Rick Ray is too. How about growing up and supporting whomever is there.</p>

Keenum wanted NO part of the bag man Kenny Payne...be thankful a few self aggrandizing alums weren't allowed to hijack the process.
