How does Corvian compare on the O and D lines to CSOD? I need to know this before I can make a prediction.

I’ll ask the same thing I asked last week about CSOD…How have they been defending a team like Murphy that will and can line it up and run it right at them?

East Wilkes put up 28 on them running the ball and I’ve heard it shoulda been more if not for a couple turnovers.

Corvia. Rush Defense is good. Alot better than CSOD.
I agree. But the way Murphy playing right now I still think Murphy takes it. Based on Everything I've read, East Wilkes ran it on corvian pretty well. They did score 28 but they had two critical turnovers in the corvian red zone that hurt them. Murphy should be fine

Corvian has two D1 d-lineman and I seriously doubt they'll be stupid enough to have none of their d-lineman in a three point stance like CSOD did most of the game, Corvian should fare better upfront for sure.

obviously 5 is gonna go have an opportunity to go somewhere. I also saw a couple guys on the lines that look like college players. 71 is one of them

#71 and #75 are both 6'5" 285 lbs + and both move really well at that size, #75 is a junior and not as far along or as polished as #71 is but both will be college lineman at some level.

#84 at DE is a smooth athlete with a great motor but at 6'3" 210 lbs is a little undersized, I still feel he's got the necessary tools and would bulk up enough to stick at DE in a college strength program, but we'll see if that opportunity comes.

You're correct on #5, he has college RB size at 6'1" 215 lbs. What level he can play at will depend on how much more he develops this off-season, he's gotten a lot stronger over the last 2 years but has lost some of the burst/quickness he had as an underclassmen with the increase in size.

As far as seniors go I think #71 and #84 have the ability to play somewhere at the next level. I know #71 has schools like Catawba and Lenoir Rhyne looking at him.
In the sophomore class, 8, 9, and 21 have next level potential as well. It will depend on how hard they work and improve over the next two years, but the fact that all three start on this year’s team says a lot.

All three are very talented players but #21 is about 5'7"-5'8", #9 about 5'8"-5'9" and #8 about 5'9"-5'10" right now, they'll all likely need to grow at least a few and possibly several inches to have a chance to play at the next level. As far as the sophomore class goes #17 has college height at 6'3"- 6'4" and should have a college level arm, he needs to bulk up and work hard, but he has the raw tools and measurables to have a chance.

Excited to see what #8, #9, #17 and #21 look like next year with another off-season of development. Hoping we'll get to see #21 get some offensive touches and #8 get a lot of defensive snaps next season.

I think what you’ll see from Corvian is a better defense than CSOD but I’m not sure Corvians offense will better than CSOD.

The freshman QB has good instincts but doesn’t look like he throws the ball as well yet as 15 from CSOD

Well Corvian defense better have a game plan. CSOD looked like youth league on defense. Obviously did not know what WING T was.

I always wonder how often these Charlotte schools see offenses like that

8 is actually 5’10 1/2” but he is listed at only 5’9”. Don’t understand that one. But he is actually young for a sophomore. He only turned 15 in August. He will very likely grow to at least 6’ by the time he’s a senior, which is a good height for a RB.

I totally forgot about 17. Physically, he probably has the best tools to play next level. Very tall and can throw it a mile. If he dedicates himself to football, he could be special.

As for 21, I will be very surprised if he doesn’t get some touches in the backfield at some point. If not next year, definitely the year after. As it stands right now, he’s a super cover corner. If he puts on a little height look out.

If Murphy is as good as they sound offensively and can stop the short passes, Murphy wins. They did throw the ball deep occasionally but mostly short screen passes that we shut down relatively well. Their kicker has got a LEG! Touchbacks every kickoff and he was kicking from 55 yards in pregame.

Murphy is 2-3 scores better than Corvian IMO.

GO Dogs!

Yeah I saw #8 out Friday, Im 6'0" and he does look a legit 5'10 to me. Definitely taller than #21 and #9. Knew he was on the young side for his grade but he's also at least stage 4 on the Tanner scale with a full mustache lol, so not sure how much more he'll grow but hopefully he's got another good growth spurt in him.

lol I’m hoping he can get to at least a shade above 5’11”. Most backs in college over the years have been a little short of 6’. The taller a back gets, the harder it makes it to play low.

Appreciate the well wishes. Was hoping to see you guys this week. IMO charters should have their own playoff,

But yeah, on paper Murphy looks like the better team and is absolutely rolling right now. It would be hard for anyone to come to the Hill this week and beat them. But, Corvian obviously has talent and I always worry how a team like that will play from week to week. Hopefully Murphy will play a flawless game this week and send them packing! Go Dogs!!

Looking on maxpreps at Corvian’s roster, I counted about 8 seniors, 9 juniors, 8 sophomores, and TWENTY ONE freshmen!! Is that accurate?? If true, this would definitely be the year to beat them because they will only get better over the next few years.

College level seniors, my opinion 71, 3 and 55 for Murphy.
