I'm trying to help my boomer parents plan a trip to Costa Rica. Can't get those mooches off my back.

4 days 3 nights or 5 days 4 nights

All inclusive. Doesn't have to be the best place but definitely not the worst.

They don't drink. They like to see cool nature stuff. They are 70 and 72. They can get around but they aren't going hiking by any means!

I haven’t done all inclusive in Costa Rica but my wife and I rented an AirBnb in Santa Teresa and had a great time

I've gotten some good deals including airfare from vacationexpress.com. I've never done Costa Rica but they do offer deals there.

Wife and I stayed at las Catalina’s a 2 years ago. It was pretty sweet. You rent a place to stay in the community then you can either pay for it upfront or charge it to your address and pay at the end of your trip. There’s plenty of nature stuff close by.

I considered that but are the places to eat locally for reasonable prices?
About like it is here. We spent probably $100 on sushi one night but that included drinks. They do have supermarkets that you can buy groceries at if you want to cook. We just opted for the more local scene to have more privacy and no kids running around.

We did spring break there last year - wasn’t exactly easy to get around. I wouldn’t send my older parents down there unless it’s a shuttle directly to an all inclusive resort.

Have friends that have been here and enjoyed it. I believe you can shuttle from Liberia airport. Within reasonable group van distance to various ecoparks and such - you can make those intense or laid back. The nearby small towns have plenty of great restaurants if you need to get off property. Can easily get by on English and a credit card down there. That area is beautiful and the people are wonderful.

How did you find a place to rent? It's a whole *** city right?

Wife and I did Ecotica in Manuel Antonio a couple months ago for a week. I can’t recommend it enough. Not completely all inclusive (breakfast included), but lots of restaurants nearby that are reasonably priced and you can get anywhere you need with about about a $3 uber ride.

Whichever island they land on…just tell them to tell a taxi cab driver…they want to go to a French beach. They’ll see plenty of cool all natural stuff there…trust me!!

What I remember from my honeymoon which was at a similar place, you can go a long way on a free breakfast place. Especially if you don’t drink. We’d load up on a late breakfast buffer a lot of days, totally skip lunch or just snack, and then eat a nice dinner.

My Brother-in-law died there several years ago. it cost 20k to get the crooked police to release his body. What a nightmare that was!

We looked hard at the Secrets in Costa Rica last year. Decided on a different country so we didn’t end up going.

We love the mountains. Grecia and areas near Volcan Poas, and also spots near Arenal. Beach is fun, but the mountains are temperate. Best of both worlds. I love San Jose. It's a fun city.

Jaco is a great town, but very touristy for CR. Still a great spot. I'd go further down to Quepos to be closer to Manuel Antonio NP.

It's a good property. The W right up the "hill" is a nicer property with nicer rooms and Spa experience, but not sure if they offer a traditional all-inclusive experience or if they just did it because we were part of a group.
