and not go the way of the Ergon project or the Belfry? It seems more realistic since its not solely based on pre-sale of expensive residential units.

From looking at that, it sounds like this Cotton Mills thing is going to be loft apartments and retail stores. Am I correct?

It is legit and appears to be full steam ahead. Unless something happens, I expect them to break ground in the fall. The video linked shows it best but that is generic versus the actual plans.

there was a post a while back about how the negotiation of the sale of that piece of property was an ongoing issue. I am not going to search for it.

I really like the videos looks..I hope the final product is not far from it. Are they going to keep the cooley building pretty much the same as the video indicates?

It reminds a lot of the shopping center that they have built in Ridgeland on Highland Colony Parkway, except with condos.

I am used to sports announcers calling us Ole Miss and all of that, but this is the first time that we have been confused with Mississippi University for Women! One of the pictures in this powerpoint link is from MUW! I realize that State isnt the most aesthetically pleasing campus but i cant believe they substituted an obvious picture of MUW. Great stuff!!

looks like a 3rd grader put it together. Do they seriously send this out to lure business? I had a business running out of the bedroom of a house and I would have never sent something that unprofessional out to clients. Either send someone around with a good digital SLR or ASK Mississippi State for some High Resolution pictures. Don't download some low rez **** off the web and plaster it into your document. I can't believe anyone with the money to do a project like this would put that out.

* Edited to add that there was some stuff at the end I didn't recognize, that may have been what you were talking about.

Someone is gonna make some serious scratch off of this and the presentation looks like they had a toddler smash buttons on a keyboard. I wonder if they are going to sign the deed with a crayon.

I was night auditor for a couple of months in 1981, back when it was the Ramada Inn. That was the place visiting teams stayed the night before. Was there when Miami came in, w/Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Mark Richt, et. al. This was in the days before they became "Da U", when they were a tough little independent mid-major.

Ramada took away its name because it was such a crappy hotel.

It's on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Mississippi Landmark. First floor is planned to be convention center, 2nd floor exact plans are still up in the air. The University Inn is supposed to be part of the deal. They had it tied up at one time but ole Doc backed away. They are renogotiating now. City and county have approved tiff bonds, Governor has approved GO Zone bonds.

of it all actually happening? With the Cooley bldg. into convention center. I read an article on the SDN implying there were some serious hurdles. I'm honestly asking because you seem to know.

Personally, I was sad to see them bulldoze the deserted Pizza Hut and derelict movie theater. They belonged on the set of 28 Days Later or some other post-apocalyptic movie.

and the GO Zone incentives - which have been cleared. The only real hurdle I know of is striking a deal with the University. But I'm told that they want the conference center bad. I'm not saying this whole thing can't fall through, but from my perspective it doesn't appear that it is.
