He could have matured at OTE and have new realizations at what's important
Or someone from RU could have said "we know you're going G League or somewhere else, but if you drop a top 5, can you put us in it? that'll make a nice splash for us".
I have to say that the one quote I read from him in a link attached earlier was more mature than what I was expecting given prior posts about his character.

If he really thought Cunningham was an issue …we would NOT be recruiting him. He would not be putting effort into recruits that don’t fit the mold .
Is he visiting? Are TJ or Knight going to his games?
The fact that he’s going to OTE and declining to be paid so he has the option to play in college next year shows maturity.

Exactly all this talk about him since his Top 5 but the kid hasn't shown up on campus for a visit in a long time. Guess we'll see what happens after the bball season.
Maybe. If the NIL deals that Overtime Elite arranged for him while playing there are lucrative enough, then he might be getting the best of both worlds. Regardless, despite disliking NIL the way it is now due to the pay for play possibilities, I like the idea of young athletes being able to do this and not lose their collegiate eligibility if they're initially not sure which path to take.

I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but his AAU coach from last spring, Andy Borman, is an assistant coach at Memphis now - Memphis made a late run at Cunningham's AAU Teammate Papa Kante
