I was also going to reply that I can see Golden going to Kansas. This is why it's important to take immediate action and cut the losses. Successful organizations act, failing organizations sit back and "hope". If Golden ends up at Kansas while this unqualified doofus embezzles $5M+ a year, that will be criminal.
I’d definitely sign up for this if we can/could get golden for the foreseeable future, proven he can coach and develop guys. He does have an edge to him where you love if he’s on your side then could and can be a little much when he’s the opponent. I could see him wanting the opportunity to be at a “bigger” place ie blueblood and trying his hand. Fla has for sure been the better program vs ours the past several years but imagine the “confidence” he would have if he came here and won a title or 2……..remember swaggy cal lol, I think saucy Todd may be even better lol.
Florida had money. Aberdeen wasn’t his first option. We paid him like number one option imo. Florida paid boogie and the other guard that we also looked at.

Yea he knows Aberdeen is a good player. I’m sure he wanted to keep him but UK thought he was more valuable.

1.) the people in charge at UK are morons. (Mitch and Eli)
2.) anyone with a functioning brain knows Pope isn’t good enough for here. The ONE AND ONLY reason he isn’t being fired now is because of the optics. Plus they don’t want to have to deal with another search so quick and during the middle of hiring a new AD.
Pope has never done a thing in his entire career that proves he’s good enough to be a coach at UK. Any competent AD would have NEVER hired him to begin with. He didn’t do a thing to earn the job or show that he belonged here prior to being hired and he hasn’t shown anything here that proves he belongs either.
Pope will not be around a few years if he doesn’t deliver at least an elite 8 next year. However, he will get a third year I believe.
Idk names other than Joe Craft but there are many more. You think us as common fans are mad, now imagine handing out millions in NIL for disappointment watching the team you helped pay for.
I wouldn’t go that far. Last year he did a pretty decent job considering his circumstances. A sweet 16 with a chance to go to an elite 8 if Butler and Robinson were healthy is solid work. It’s the reason why he probably won’t be fired after this year. All of us are extremely upset with this team this year, no doubt about it, but we can’t forget about us being a 3 seed, most top 25 wins in schools history, and a s16 team he put together in only a matter of weeks.

I'm gonna assume you're not, now, imagine pumping millions into a program & getting the results from this season, then come tournament time & they end the season on a 4 game losing streak. The "boosters" don't usually get to be "boosters" by being as ridiculous as a not small percentage of this fan base. So it's hard to say if they're as "fighting mad" as Cletus Ray Wildcat

Maybe you wouldn't be as mad as me but I know i would be pissed & want something to change for my money.

I want Pope to succeed as much as anyone, I know he can coach, but he needs talented players, hopefully his recruiting improves & the injuries stop. My initial post was a quote hypothetically on how he may not get a year 3. I would be beside myself if we end the season on a 4 game losing streak & can imagine how furious other fans would be. I want us to win every game, some on this board absolutely want Pope fired, I just want him to win.
I made the same type of post yesterday and got dragged by these message board geniuses. Like I said it’s a humiliation to be laughed at for suggesting going after the best. In my opinion, if we don’t put a Todd golden as coach we are finished as a blue blood. It’s like the crossroads after Bcg. Another non serious hire and our image is finished. The next coach needs to be a guy who is money to have us top 5-10 every year win a title or two. Makes a final four in year 2 or at least shows serious promise. Not this anemic limping crap!
Do you still prefer Sumrall over Stein? I was initially, but I'm super impressed with how he built his staff, handled double duty, and his vision.
Without a doubt sumerall. Stein might pan out. Hes definitely a much bigger risk than sumerall would have been.
Any fan that believes Pope is gonna turn things around and then start getting top recruits and portal players is in for a rude awakening.

And to make it worse. We have no recruits for next year. Did you ever in your lifetime believe a UK HC couldn't get a recruit to play here.
