Couple of points regarding atmosphere in T-Town

Yesterday myself and a few other Bulldogs made the early trip over to T-Town to setup in the quad to tailgate with some Alabama friends and enjoy the whole day. While I've attended games in Bryant-Denney this was the first time to tailgate. I will give Bama kudos to the shear number of people that are out there tailgating(my understanding that wasn't even a full crowd). Because of the large numbers(that we aren't accustomed to at home) it made for a great scene, but from a 'buzz' standpoint it was never there in the quad. The truth is ALL Bama fans never expected this to be a close one, so excitement was lacking.

However, that changed quickly in the game. Folks, the crowd was rocking. When we got to our seats(lower level state section) I could have confused this with a playoff Saints game in the Superdome. I 100% attest this to something that Bama does great that I now know we are far behind in and need to improve: VIDEO and MUSIC. I'm not going to recall song titles, remixes, and such but they had a great playlist that got the folks Energized. The days of "all I do is win" and "sandstorm" are done and should be retired. As far as their video board media, far and away better than ours. Great school production films of the team and NO CORNY ADS! Get these mood killers off our jumbotron. Also, my last observation on the in game atmosphere, when Bama put their strength coach on the screen and he was yelling at them to get up and scream...I can't lie, I got some chills. That guy could motivate 60,000 old-heads in DWS to get up and cheer.

And one final thing I would like to vent on personally. To the old 17er who sat beside me and turned my drink over twice on the other old 17er that sat in front of me...17 you for not apologizing and 17 the old 17er in front of me for getting pissed at me and called me an *** hole under his breath. The both of you need to stick to watching games at home.

You're right about the music and pregame video but their strength coach is a white version of Trooper Taylor. If we had anyone acting like that on our sideline I would boycott the games.

Regarding music, they have multiple speakers throughout the stadium it looked like. The ultimate surround sound. No overwhelming blast from one area. Best place I have ever been to watch a game.

I agree on everything except the part about the strength coach

Mainly because it wasn't that motivating. It sounded like a high school coach yelling jibberish. Then again, Alabama fans get motivated by Bear Bryant speaking jibberish.

Anyway- Middle Tennessee State did the same thing where they had some douche yelling on the scoreboard and it was annoying- so the S&C yelling jibberish seemed a little Sun Belt to me.

Advertisements MUST have no sound themselves and be read by the PA announcer with music going in the background simultaneously for us to get out of sunbeltish status. There's absolutely no excuse for us to have dead-air, actual commercials, etc.

Hopefully as we continue to grow as a program our gameday atmosphere will also continue to grow. My hope is that our athletic dept. has a meeting in the offseason looking critically at things we do and ways to improve it. No DJ video, no *** dogs, contests that someone other than Tom Brady have a chance of winning, not playing that all we do is win song over the band trying to play the Hey Song after we beat Auburn- I REALLY wanted to tell them to go to hell.

Pretty sure that a substantial portion of our (i.e., Athlectic Department/ Bulldog Club/ Foundation) initial cost of the board was "subsidized" by the 3rd party ad broker (Leerfield, maybe...) who, then "makes" money when they sell the ad space/ time. I got no direct knowledge, tho. Would explain disconnect between what we feel is acceptable, what was permitted initially, and the lack of any adjustment up to now.

I like it because you could hear the band without being blasted by the ADs on the jumbotron. It was better than at our place.
