Yeah, its not likely they are going to publicize anything about it. Seems more of a concession to the schools to allow kids to participate in something.
CPS schools run summer basketball leagues during the IHSA dead period. They do what ever they want when ever they want.
I'd also argue that everything CPS does is unorganized

I'm curious as to how many kids in CPS are quitting football to focus on basketball.
I don't know if its really quitting football, especially if its never even offered or supported in the first place. Within CPS there's very little leadership in any sports, and what little there is is only focused on basketball. Within the elementary structure they run (CPS Score) they opened basketball registration before even releasing schedules for Fall Sports this year. They only offer soccer, volleyball and cross country in the Fall as well. They don't even offer flag football for elementary schools anymore. How do they expect kids to get/stay interested in a sport when the admin only cares about basketball?
CPS Blog is correct. They had a nice elementary school sports program "ESSP" but switched over to the Score program which is a joke. The ramifications will be seen at the HS level in a couple of years & not just in football.
Every kid in CPS thinks he is a basketball player. Every basketball coach encourages it by never telling them differently. These kids continue to "focus on basketball" during the seasons they could be playing other sports like football. The kids lose out by never getting the opportunity to excel in other sports at the same time they aren't realizing their hoop dreams.
Ok thanks...I'll start- IHSA needs to revamp how the CPS drastically ruins seeding and postseason play every year. I've been rooted in HS football for at least 7-10 years now in Illinois and every year we see multiple occasions of a 13-16 seeded, 5/6 win team destroy undefeated CPS teams. While Phillips helps counter the argument many others , i.e. Solorio have been a good case even with the best QB in the state
Once they let everyone in we should blind draw the playoffs like Indiana does. So you get 1-8 vs 0-9 and two 9-0 face off in the first round.
It is not practical to seed the playoffs. The system is no where near perfect but you really can't do much better when pairings are made the Saturday night before round one.

Revamp how? There are quite a few blowouts recently in state playoff games that did not involve CPS teams. Higher seeded teams have lost big to lower seeded CCL teams. You can't tell me lower seeds don't enjoy the opportunity to easily make it through to a round 2 home game come playoff time.
CPS is actually rumored to be overhauling the conferences in the offseason and possibly eliminating some teams.

The IHSA site direct links to Maxpreps - it would be as easy as pie to use those rankings to make your seeds for your brackets.
I say: let everyone in, week 9 is your first round, and the 8-game regular season sets up legit seeding.
Also, IL has a fit when you make teams travel, at least this way there's a fair reason.
I can think of one head coach who will likely make the playoffs that probably could not name all the teams in his conference, let alone accurately seed a playoff bracket.
I can't wait until every one is in and you get two 0-9 teams have a play-in game on Wednesday then the winner forfeit their Saturday game like Argo baseball did vs MC this year.
Another thing with letting everyone in, the same teams who complain about not getting in will basically be playing the same teams they cant beat in the regular season in the first round since it will set by geography.
I don't see it quite that way.
At a late point, the IHSA could contact the coaches of winless or one-win teams, ask them if they're in, then set the field.
Sure, you might have some 0-8s vs 8-0s in the first round (and possibly some byes), but I don't see how we get around the namby-pamby non-conference scheduling we have now.
It works in hockey and lacrosse, I don't see why it can't work in football.
How about the 0-8 and 1-7 teams do not make playoffs, but everyone else does And then seed 1-64? Good golly there will be some massive blowouts in round one!!
So Franken steps down at Young, where does the list of former northside CPS coaches start to form? Will it even form? Does Kenner just go full Flag Football since she seems to believe that parents are too scared to let their kids play?
Was at the Windsor last night and heard one former CPS coach say he was next in line for the Whitney job
Without support from the principal, Whitney Young is not a coaching job I would even think about taking. It is odd that Payton is able to field a competitive team year after year considering the enrollment demographic is pretty much the same. There's something more to Whitney Young's football demise.
Maybe it is because their football team actually comes from within the city, unlike the basketball team.
Whitney Young forfeited their season, but still had a homecoming pep rally, so that when the National Anthem was played it gave some the opportunity to kneel during.

The city probably can't sustain both a Payton and a WY at the same time. Maybe Franken was too old school or unoriginal (he has 2 now grown sons that played for Driscoll). The rumor was Dr. Kenner could not or did wrangle more "principal selections" beyond what Bball needed.
