Not sure which is more the case: Creighton really this good or Xavier really this bad. I lean toward it being X. The defense they played was borderline non-existent. And on offense they were rushing shots like crazy.

Correct. Xavier, at least tonight, looks like a certain team I stopped watching last year.

Pre game, LePhonso Ellis enthusistically picked Xavier. Will take him with a large grain of salt moving forward.
In game 2, GT looked better than I expected while Marquette.... didn't.

Creighton has looked terrible all year, Xavier has actually been playing pretty well. Seems they just threw a stinker, unless this pattern continues.

Anybody else noticed that McDermott kept the starters in until only a few minutes left & then kept pushing the ball? Nothing like running up the score.

What he did wasn’t really beyond the norm.

The old days were different, not just with KenPom but also with the shot clock and 3 point line. Sometimes it’s also on the losing team to make the first move.

If you look at the ratings, the gaps between teams is minor usually. So adding 30-point wins definitely should boost the overall. Most games are decided by way less and the metrics align to such.

And in this case, it was a 40 point ROAD win over a team with a decent rank in a 365 team world.

Right now, it looks like Marquette, X, and DePaul are at the bottom. Still not sure about Gtown but they have talent. Wouldn’t bet against McDermott getting Creighton back on track.

As I said in a previous thread, wouldn't bury Creighton yet. They dealt with early injuries and a very tough schedule but they've made recent lineup changes that are clicking and when was the last time McDermott didn't produce in the Big East?

I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Creighton have a few 20 point losses.

They truly live and die by the 3.

I’m curious how they’ll respond to more physical teams in the Big East. Xavier was nowhere near them when they were shooting from the outside.
