if that happens, they can kiss their Texas recruiting good bye. I guess Lincoln Nebraska is a desired spot to attend college for athletes across the nation.

I think they should just try to get two out of these four: TCU, Boise, Utah, BYU, and then try to keep their conference together.

Honestly, I don't think they'd be losing too many TV sets by losing Nebraska if they replaced them with one of the Utah schools. That would seem to be a pretty even trade eyeballs-wise.

I suspect NU thinks they can come in and dominate the Big 10 in football, thereby getting on more TV sets. Also, they see themselves as having a "national program" like Notre Dame, Bama, USC. They don't realize their best days are behind them.

Related: this puts the Big "10" up to 12 - shirley they have to do a name change now?

...would be like the SEC losing Georgia and replacing them with South Florida.

That or money. But I agree. I know there's money involved but to me the Big 10 is a step down from the Big 12.

These teams do not have the competition week in and week out. It is much easier to get up for a few games a year rather than putting your best on the field every week.

give them the their corn fed white boy quota.

But the whole point of this would be to make The Big10 > The Big12.</p>

They've pretty much lined up against BCS schools every year, and beaten them every year. And they'd likely be better if they join a big conference, as it would help their recruiting.

Yea, but by the same token, by being in a better conference they would recruit better, so it's hard to say where their potential would be. They wouldn't be recruiting to the MWC or Big East. They'd be recruiting to better leagues, which would mean better players and better teams.

I think that Utah would have real potential but I do not feel the same with South Florida. As far as Nebraska, they received a self inflicted wound by hiring Callahan. This was a Croom type mistake. You cannot take the Nebraska kids and turn them into a finesse style offense. Those kids have grown up running the triple option since they took the bottle out of their mouth. Nebraska will be back soon once they get the right talent back. South Florida would have a more up hill climb because I would bet that their alumni base affiliates themselves with the other big 3 school in the state. There is potential but it would be a tougher than for Utah.

The Big Ten would become the Big Twelve after adding Nebraska.
The Big Twelve would become the Big Ten after losing Nebraska & Colorado.
Then shortly thereafter, the names could change again as more defctions/additions occur!
