The Cubs have finally made a good front office decision- it's like Doc firing LT and hiring Byrne

What will be interesting to see is whether Tito comes with him. If those two win a title in Chicago, they would be the most untouchable coach/gm duo in sports history.<div>

They're neither sarcastericks because you go onto explain yourself, therefore defeating the purpose of sarcasm, nor are they astericks making note of a blank message.

So, what do they mean? </p>

by the cubs. Now he needs to get some of those bad contracts out of wrigley. Pujols isn't worth $300 million.

But they really shouldn't in my opinion - I just get the feeling he's going to be a little brittle over the next couple of years with the chronic elbow and hamstring issues.

They've got too many holes to put all that money in one player. Basically the whole INF and OF could be gutted with the exception of Castro. They need to find a way to jettison Soriano who did hit a little last year but is still atrocious in the field. Maybe trade bad contracts with somebody else - for instance bring Theo's mistake Lackey with him over for Soriano or something (just off the top of my head and I haven't compared contracts).

Theo's got his work cut out for him though with that current roster.

think Pujols is going to Chicago, you've lost your mind.

Albert Pujols, first and foremost, wants to win. He's not going to sign with Chicago and help them rebuild the next 3 or 4 years. There are a lot of holes in that roster and Pujols won't want to sit around for three stagnant years while they fill all of them.

The only thing Chicago is going to do for Pujols, is raise his asking price. The Red Sox, Yankees, and Phillies are all out of the bidding process b/c of their current first basemen. Chicago is rebuilding, so he won't go there. My only concerns are Anaheim and to a lesser extent Texas.

In the end, I really think the best offer is going to be from STL and he's going to have an extremely hard time turning it down. He built a house near Cape Girardeau, MO a year or two ago, as well. He's put his roots down and I really think he's going to stay.

and make the Cards step up. And if that is the worst thing that happens- then its still a win for the Cubs.<div>
</div><div>But the Cubs make alot of money- and can afford payroll- dont think they cant- and I expect them to add some pieces- their farm system isnt good enough to wait on prospects</div>
