The police union disagrees with your take.Btw, literally one of the foremost crime data experts on the country regarding DC.
Assessing DC's Violent Crime Trends - by Jeff Asher
Summary - Murder and carjackings definitely down, not at historic lows but tracking positively. Carjackings definitely a crime of the youth. Violent crime also down, but there are reporting issues making this hard to track (probably not intentional ones but they are intervening with the data).
I think it's silly Trump is putting the Guard on the streets, it's him "showing force." Federalizing the anti-crime efforts in DC is much more within his actual purview, and not problematic. Crime in DC can definitely be further tamped down.
The irony of this article of death jabs is that it is from “slay” news.
Your article didn’t slay anything. What article? Lol
Sharing another factual news story on this fine morning. In honor of TJ.

DC police unit to focus on stopping juvenile crimes before they happen
Washington, D.C., is dedicating a new police unit to juvenile crime as the city experiences an increase in young people committing some crimes. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith said the Juvenile Investigative Response Unit, or JIRU, will focus on...www.nbcwashington.com
Weird, DC NBC was reporting on rising youth crime just a few months ago. Seems like it is a major problem, specifically with theft and carjackings.
Car jacking in DC is UP OVER 500 % !Btw, literally one of the foremost crime data experts on the country regarding DC.

Don't confuse him....Actually you didn't, go read what you posted and get back to me. I thought it might be what you meant, but it's not what you said.
Matt just arrested a two-fer, illegal immigrant AND a juvie !
He is now tied up ALL day and at least 4 hours OT to process the kid thru the myriad of the NYC Juvenile System !
As USUAL, you post of what you know less than nothing !Crime stats in 2024 were massively down, with Biden in charge of deporting illegals. In the case of violent crime and property crime, lows hitting where things stood per capita in the 1960s.
Why is that? Because the large majority of crimes in the USA are committed by native born citizens, something I'd think a serious law enforcement officer would want to know. I'm sure that more crimes in NYC are committed by non-citizens than elsewhere, because there's a huge non-citizen population in NYC (including an illegal population).
We can continue to post the facts about this, and you can continue to bleat about the FBI only getting reports from 96% of LE agencies (i.e., basically all of them).
Sometimes you can actually take the L on something, especially when you've been proven wholly wrong.
Spend some time in how the Chief of DC PD reported crime ! He is suspended and will probably be incarcerated in an old Jan 6 th cell !This seems to be a fair assessment.

Violent crime in DC has fallen, but remains higher than most other American cities
Not good enough? D.C. officials trying to push back against Trump’s federal control of city's law enforcement don't address the big picture.justthenews.com

If the vaccine was killing people, life insurance companies would ask your vaccine status, before issuing a policy. They would load rates for those that are vaccinated.
That isn’t happening because the vaccine isn’t killing people.
Car jacking in DC is UP OVER 500 % !
Facts are hard to hide !
As USUAL, you post of what you know less than nothing !
The FBI under Joey and Obumma were NOT getting stats from about 50 % of law enforcement departments like the LARGEST PD in the World NYPD.
In your informed brain how many Illegal Immigrants did Joey deport ?
Facts are proof, not your posts here and there.
Aggregate FBI crime data means next to nothing. I can explain further if anyone is interested but I should probably stay out of it.
He should be. He is one of the reasons you can’t believe the accuracy of crime stats. What is fair is the article commenting that yes the homicide rate has dropped, but it’s still the 4th highest in the US. It’s not acceptable that the capital of the country is this messy, car jackings and getting beat up from robbery. There was literally a murder 2 blocks away from where the Dems were protesting against Feds taking over in DC last night.Spend some time in how the Chief of DC PD reported crime ! I have one opinion.I have quite a few opinions of police unions, and very few are positive.
So I'm good with this.
Does or did your Sister live in DC ? My second Sister did, and fully supports his efforts to control crime in and around DC !I had this conversation with my sister yesterday. The issue in DC with crime isn't the trend, which is positive, but the fact that DC has had far too much crime for far too long. In fairness, the DC crime problem is very specific to certain neighborhoods, and not general.
As for my view on the topic, federalizing the DC police is not the wrong decision per se (tho I don't have a lot of faith in Trump to handle it well). The National Guard stuff is ridiculous, and just a showcase (I supported the NG on the streets during the LA rioting), but general public order is not at issue here.
Like deaths during Covid that are woefully unreported nationally AND worldwide. This is the argument against whatever the DC police/leaders have been doing. The city is too dangerous, even if improving.
I don't understand why you guys are all so obsessed with denigrating the data. You'd be citing to it if it established the "crime is getting worse" point.
Here's the reality, crime data has done a very nice job tracking the general sentiment on crime in the US. Crime really was horrific from at some point in the 1970s to the mid-1990s, and it was a top shelf political issue much of this era. It really did drop a ton from the mid-1990s to the mid-2010s (hence crime receding as a political issue). And the aftermath of the Ferguson and Floyd rioting really did lead to crime spikes (the first more localized/second more generalized), which is why we are discussing crime today.
But I do think it's clear that we are moving quickly to a point where crime is just not a front burner topic of political discussion, because it's falling dramatically again, likely to under the roughly 2014 lows since we've kept the data.

I have the faith that President Trump will handle this problem !
Like he has handled the Southern Border, Inflation, Energy, Trillions of foreign investments flowing into the USA, multiple wars in various places in the World, ETC. ETC.
