States or cities may have but not the Feds. The budget fight is on whether the ACA subsidies should continue and whether hospital ER's can be reimbursed for care to indigents.
Considering a great number of people call it “Obamacare”, I don’t think Duckworth’s/Democrats’ messaging like this is the winner they think it is. The Republicans didn’t pass ACA. That’s a Dem bill all the way.

I feel sorry for them if their premiums suddenly go up but when the Dems increased the subsidies it was during covid and there is no covid anymore - it was supposed to be temporary. Maybe Doge can take on the medical industry as it seems like there is alot of waste there.

If the ACA did not exist, we would have no viable options for medical insurance. You can't tear down ACA without a replacement for those individuals who do not have access to medical insurance through employment.

Polling is very high for reigning in government spending. Americans don't want to spend money we don't have on illegals and they also don't want the government shut down. If a non-citizen goes to the hospital, we should treat that person. Then we should hand them a bill. If/when they don’t pay it, deport them immediately. They aren’t contributing and they are a drain on our resources. Seems pretty simple.

Yes, have an immigration status check added to the numerous other checks that one must navigate before receiving service. And whether they pay or not, once they are healthy enough to leave the hospital they are deported.
