NCAA says #Syracuse basketball didn't adhere to drug program dating to 2001, but only stripped wins back to 2004. That preserves 02-03 title
And stopped at 11-12. 12-13 was a Final Four year for Syracuse.
From Syracuse Univ:

Vacation of 24 men's basketball wins (15 in 2004-05 and 9 in 2011-12);

So it appears that Boeheim loses 24 off his total. The other years pertain to football indiscretions.

Anyone know how many games this will be?
2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12
So 135 wins.
Did ineligible players participate in each of those games?

The coach is suspended 9 games.
They are banned (even if self-imposed) from the tourney this year.
Have to pay back a ton of money.
Return NCAA money from the tournament.
Forfiet well over a hundred wins.
The loss of 12 scholarships over 4 wins.

What is your definition of "hammered" then.

This is really worse for Carolina. Until the punishments come down, they will have fair to worse recruiting for years.

They should be scared, that this may take years before the decision. I feel the best thing is admit wrong doing now.

The uncertainty will not be welcomed by the majority of UNC fans in my opinion.

The lesson: 10 years of violations on your watch, you miss 9 games. But lie to the NCAA over 1 incident (Tressel, Pearl) and you're done.

10 year investigation.... we just have to be patient with unc. But in their case most of the legwork has already been done. Give it a couple years and we'll be reading this same story again.

He's losing 24 total.
That's some BS if that's all he is losing.

Such a weak penalty by the NCAA for a man who has now been caught twice in his career for cheating.

Of course not.

How convenient for them that the 2003 and 2013 seasons were not in violation.

Well, the statement from Syracuse says 24 games will be taken away from Boeheim.

Also, the following monies:

Report says Syracuse must return to NCAA all revenue obtained in 2011,
2012, and 2013 NCAA tournaments. Syracuse will also be fined $500 per
game for each game in which any ineligible player participated.

Why shouldn't Boeheim get hit with a money penalty as well? I am sure he has some major incentives that he didn't give back.

The 24 games that Syracuse listed today is what they "self-imposed". That's not what the NCAA did. The NCAA did not disclose how many wins they took.

From the NCAA report regarding Boeheim's suspension:

The provisions of this suspension require that the head men's basketball coach not be present in the arena where the games are played and shall not have any contact or communication with members of the men's basketball coaching staff and men's basketball student-athletes during the suspension period. The prohibition includes all coaching activities for the period of time which begins at 12:01 a.m. the day of the first conference game and ends at 11:59 p.m. on the day of the game that constitutes the halfway point of the conference season. During that period, the head men's basketball coach may not participate in any activities including, but not limited to, team travel, practice, video study and team meetings. The results of those contests from which the head men's basketball coach is suspended shall not count in the head men's basketball coach's career coaching record.

anyone who doesn't think Cuse is going to blow starting in 2016-2017 due to scholly problems doesn't get how big this is becuase , yes you can be a great team with 10 schollys BUT you need all this to go right

- can't have players transfer

- can't have players get in trouble and get kicked off

- can't miss on any recruits . If you sign them they better be damn good .

- can't have any tragedies

- Have to have players STILL want to go there despite maybe not winning much

and there's more but that's just off the top of my head .

So yeah Cuse fans be prepared to Suck.

Yes. Same as the UNC**** scenario, if banner(s) don't come down, they did not get "hammered" to any degree.

Re: No vacated 03 Championship for The Cuse

It seems dumb to vacate a title from 12 years ago. But, then I read that some official in New Mexico wants to make it official that Billy the Kid is truly dead with a death certificate issued. So, I guess there is no time limit on stupid stuff.

Vacation of all wins in which ineligible men's basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12 and ineligible football students played in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. The public decision contains additional details.
Fine of $500 per contest played by ineligible students.
The school must return to the NCAA all funds it has received to date through the former Big East Conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Suspension of the head basketball coach from the first nine conference games of 2015-16.
Reduction of men's basketball scholarships by three for the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. If the school has already executed scholarship offers for the 2015-16 year, the school may begin the four-year penalty with the 2016-17 year.
Reduction in the number of permissible off-campus recruiters from four to two during June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2017.
The panel also accepted the school's self-imposed postseason ban for the 2014-15 season, but noted that self-imposition of penalties after the conclusion of infractions hearings does not influence the outcome.
Additional self-imposed penalties can be found in the public decision.
Thanks. I'd call that a heavy hammer except the 9 game suspension. They barred Pearl for years for much less. The total number of wins vacated may not be that significant, but the doing so is. If the NCAA does similar to UNC they could lose entire season's not to mention titles. With a decision on that likely coming in a few months it's not a good sign for our UNC friends.

Crazy detail in the Syracuse report. Director of basketball ops and others had players' passwords, would email their professors as them.

Very personal to Boehiem. He was a couple seasons from hitting 1000, now there's almost no way he can possibly get there.
