Saw a surprising stat last night during the CWS game. Most appearances without a championship. Of course, FSU had the most with 20. But this shocked me ---- Northern Colorado was 3rd or 4th with 10 appearances. Unbelievable. Northern Colorado? Had no idea they had ever been, much less 10 times. By the way, we are 3rd in the SEC in CWS appearances with 8. Behind LSU and SC.

The country was divided into 8 regions and it was always 1 team from each region who made Omaha - you couldn't play in a different regional.<div>

the stat should read more like this:

Northern Colorado* 10
SCAR 9
Mississippi State 8
* - we can't take you off our record books but let it be known that the Big Sky Conference did away with baseball in the 70's.

They played in the Great West conference who added baseball for the first time this season.
Until 2003, they were D2, and a part of the North Central Conference. For the past 6 years they have played as D-1 Independents and have won the Division
I Independent Invitational twice and tied another time.
They have not been relevant on a NCAA level since the change from the 8 regions beginning in 1975.
But before then they were a big part of the college baseball landscape.
