I understand that it's "been there forever" and whatnot, but is there any real reason why the CWS doesn't rotate cities like the basketball Final 4?

Don't know, but I like it in Omaha. Just seems natural to have it there ... and a nice city to boot. And centrally located in the country. I can't think of a valid reason to have it anywhere else.

I can't think of a valid reason to move it either for all the reasons you've mentioned. And after I posted the question I thought that it can't be held in any professional team's stadiums b/c a tourny of that length would be a long time for the home team to be on the road.

"TD Ameritrade Park Omaha[SUP][4][/SUP] is a baseball park in Omaha, Nebraska, the home field of the College World Series since 2011. Opened earlier that year, the venue was constructed after the NCAA signed an agreement to keep the CWS in Omaha until at least 2035 if the ballpark was built. The event has been held in the city since 1950, previously at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium."

I went for the whole CWS- my first one. Omaha in one word- overrated. TD Ameritrade is just a bigger Trustmark with wind that apparently never blows out. I wish I could've seen one at Rosenblatt. The local fans cleared by the 7th inning of every game. If not for all the maroon that stuck around, the attendance in the 9th of a national championship game would've been embarrassing. They are seriously lucky we were there. The Zoo was excellent as promised and the old market was nice. Great for a 2 and Q trip but not so much for a week and a half, or even just the full week we had planned. But with that said you can't move it. Omaha is college baseball. But move the fences in or something, damn.

One more note. U of Nebraska's Heisman presentation was very well done and they treat you like royalty if you wander into their stadium.

To be fair, you could go to any destination in maybe the world and it would get old after 5-7 days. I don't think that's limited to Omaha, NE.

I do think they give too many tickets to locals, but without that their minor league team probably wouldn't have many season ticket holders.

It could be played in any venue - Citi Field, Turner, Wrigley, Fenway, Dodger - and people would still find a reason or two to complain. If college baseball continues to grow I'm sure someone with a nice minor league stadium and hotel accommodations will bid for the host site in 2035. You would think as an unbiased governing body the NCAA would take the highest bid. Probably won't be the case, though.
