Several years ago I started running an SEC Tournament Fantasy Basketball game. It was pretty simple. Draft a team and earn one point for every point, rebound, assist, block and steal your guys tally. Fishwater, Hanmu, 615, Coach34 and others played in the past. We all threw in $20 to make it interesting.
Last year the combination of the board split and our awful season didn't have many people interested in playing, but I thought I would try to start it back up this year.
If you are interested, reply here and send me a PM with your email address. If we have 10-12 who want to do it, I'll put it all together.
The details:
Sometime between Sunday when the bracket is set and Tuesday night we will draft in SPS chat. The exact day/time will be set once we get the contestants set. Probably either Monday night or Tuesday night around 9:30 central to give all the old people with kids a chance to get them in the bed and have some peace and quiet.
We play by strict Stansbury Rules, meaning no matter how much talent is available to you, your playing roster will only consist of seven players.
With 14 teams in the SEC, and each team having five starters and in most cases a couple of guys off the bench, that's 98 players. Some teams go eight deep or more, so we should be able to accommodate up to 15 teams but 10 is probably the minimum.
Draft will be snake style. Order to be determined by random drawing before the draft.
Ante is $20. Split is 75/25 for top two.
Obviously one of the goals is to maximize games played. I actually think the new tournament format makes it pretty interesting because guys like Sword, Denson, and Releford have a good shot at playing two games. In fact, one of those three is assured of playing twice. And other than Florida, there's not another team out there I can confidently say will play twice. The league's parity, no matter how bad it is, makes it challenging.
Anyway, if you want to play, let me know and we'll get it set up.
