Duplin County will always be home to excellent talent and there are outstanding coaches all across the county. I know this scenario will never happen but if somehow there was one central high school for the whole county I'd be willing to bet we as a county could compete for the 4A championship every year and probably win it most years. We breed our kids different down here and it shows up on Friday nights.

I will have to go watch WRH though! Good luck to both county teams.

If JK and WRH merged into one . . . My God what a powerhouse that would be. With it getting harder to find teachers we may get to a point where there are only enough left for one school.

I wish the Board of Education would consider it or at least look at all of the positives that would come from this. The majority of the high schools need serious renovations, 80% of the teachers are not doing there job educating these kids and giving them a chance, also being in small classifications many of these kids who have the athletic ability to go D1 are being overlooked due to D1 schools bias against 1A/1AA football. And you even see most 2A being overlooked. Redistrict the county into two high schools. Wouldn't hurt to try because sadly Duplin County schools are going nowhere fast as is now. Just my opinion.
And Chopper 747 you made me laugh to be honest

Grew up in Wayne County and have a lot of respect for Duplin County football. Played in college at WCU and have been living in the Winston area since. I remember WRH had 4 little league teams in the late 70s feeding into them (Volunteers, Minutemen, Green Berets, and Rosehill). Is that still the case? I believe Warsaw had a few teams as well though was not in our league. We played their Redskins team in a non-con game one year and they had a heck of an athlete named Steve Kornegay. whom I later met as an all conference punter on my college team. Did not think about it at the time but you had a 2A high school with 4 youth teams feeding into it when the Wayne County schools had 1 each youth teams feeding into 3A and 4A schools. You also have to give a lot of credit to a long history of great coaching in Duplin County including Thell Overman and Ken Avent Sr that took that 82 N Duplin team deep in the playoffs with Ralph Britt and Anthony Jernigan. Dang those guys hit like trucks. Believe me I know form experience.

BTW why would you guys ever want to consolidate and make a 4A High School? Way too much dag gum tradition at all 4 of those schools. JK will be back. ND is on the way back. ED is back and WRH is what they always have been. A dag gum powerhouse!

I know that Rose Hill and Wallace still have a strong little league program and thats where it all starts. Kenansville and Warsaw have fallen off a bit in recent years but they are getting good coaching at the middle school level. As for the Faison and Beulaville I dont know the condition of there youth football program but im sure it is in good shape. As for consolidating to become a 4A I just think it would be exciting for the whole county to have a super team to cheer for that would be competitive year in and year out. Also it would put a end to the lack of respect we don't receive because we are just "small country high schools". You also have to look at how much more could be generated and also the potential savings that exist. Probably never will happen and it would be a shame to see the county rivalries only exist at a middle school level. But in final thought what a powerhouse of a program it could be if we came together as a county.

Your opinion is unfounded, I don't think you have done your homework. Maybe your teachers didn't do their job educating the children they taught.

If you are gonna want me to take you seriously Bearcat67 you are going to have to defend your opinion much better than simply stating you have not done your homework. I am very familiar with how education in Duplin County stands so please do me a favor and enlighten me a little bit more on why I am unfounded.
