So Carter and Beau are supposed to do a camp together this weekend in Idaho with Ridge Lovett for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Should be interesting. I would post the flyer but I don't know how to post that stuff on forums
Ok, here it is:

This is a terrible take. The coaching staff did NOT look the other way on this, and despite a lot of noise in the article, you should be able to read the article and see this.

First of all, as I have stated before, there's a difference between breaking the law or breaking team rules and just being a d*ck. Anyone who hasn't realized that Carter is the later is clueless, and the staff is well aware. But being a dick by itself doesn't warrant anything more than trying to offer guidance.

There are two allegations in the article which warrant serious attention. First, of course, is the rape allegation. Which even the article states is NEW. It may have happened in the past but no claims were made until now or very recent. I don't know but this may have triggered Carter not being welcome at the NLWC. But this is not something the staff, or really anyone, covered up. I assume a complaint has now been filed per the article, and is being handled appropriately. The article was not really clear if that complaint was yet brought forward yet. But it sure wasn't brought forward in the past and covered up.

The second incident which would warrant coach action was the alleged theft. As stated in the article, the staff was notified, they told Beau they would fully support him if he filed a complaint. He did. Police investigated and didn't have any evidence to bring charges. I'm not sure what Cael and company could have done. If they punished Starocci for an allegation without evidence, wouldn't they have been obligated to do the same with Kasak? And nobody thinks Kasak did anything wrong. Even Beau stated that he did not blame the coaches on this. They did all that they could. Whether Mrs. Bartlett shares these feelings is another story, I guess.

The other stuff is just noise, pure and simple. "Grooming?" They should be embarrassed that they used that. There is nothing illegal about a 22 year old coming on to a 17 year old. In truth, in PA it is not illegal for a 27 year old to have sex with a 16 or 17 year old as long as it is consentual. It may be creepier-ish, but still allowed. And in reality, college freshman and even HS senior girls dating guys in college is not rare. Again, some may think Carter a d*ck for this, but not actionable.

The practice room stuff - the 5 on 1, the thumb ride, kneeing in the head, etc. - geez, as always, not a great look for our sport in general, but not uncommon. Usually done by the guys you consider d*cks to try to intimidate or get an edge. Maybe warrants a talking to, but this stuff is not even explicitly against the rules in our combat sport. I would guess this didn't show up in the article from Beau, but probably from someone that Beau talked to that's never been in a combat sport and thinks it is something like assault. I'd be embarrassed to be in a wrestling forum regularly and think that way.

So bottom line, there are two serious allegations in there and a bunch of other stuff that's nonsense. The first incident was investigated with full support of the staff, but nobody could prove anything and it's pretty evident why. The second one is a new allegation just being investigated now and I hope will be investigated fully. It seems that the staff made the proper call as soon as they were aware.

So, Carter is a d$ckhead, and is currently being investigated to see if he is much more than that. I'm not really inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt unless facts come out that say otherwise. At best he is likely a misogynist.

And the staff acted exactly how they should have. That is not in debate even from Beau. I'm a liberal and I still don't think that people in authority should be forced to act like SJWs, even though some do. Possible criminal behavior, yes act. Just being a d*ck, no.

Well nobody can stop you from continuing your support for the wrestling team.

Agreed.

And you'd be well within your rights to refuse to support them because you didn't like what one of the wrestlers who rep'd them stood for or did.

But your take was that the coaches knew and did nothing, which is a bad take. You've got a right to that too, but it's not represented in anything that was reported.

Fair take, I have a little push back as well

1) Incident is reported as Snapchat on the team group SnapChat. A little different than taking nude photos and posting them. Agreed that these probably falls under the "hazing" umbrella but with Snapchat, unless somebody took screenshots and presented them, not sure there could be anything done much more than "I hear about something like this again..." and would likely take a team wide complaint. I'm not seeing that as likely.
2) I am unsure that this is pushback against my post. I think I'm in agreement with you and what is anyone to do. Unless you know you've got a criminal on your hands - which is not the case - impossible to call out who he hangs out with or who he brings where if everyone else has the same rights.
3) Disagree. Him being a National champ is no more a power imbalance than rich 40 year old guys banging 18 year old girls who like the perks and lifestyle. This happens all the time and is not the same as the power imbalance of the workplace. You may find it creepy but it's not illegal or actionable. I personally don't find a 22 or 23 year old with a 17 year old all that creepy or even close to being as creepy as the old guys. That said, if it was something that led up to a rape it could be considered in hindsight, but that is just coming out now. How would anyone know this beforehand? Anyhow, it is a distortion of the word "grooming" and it's use undercuts the credibility of the user. It's just piling on noise for affect, which I suspect #1 is as well.
1) I agree that it will really depend on what exactly happened, no way to know what exactly Cael saw/there is proof of.
2) Yeah, it isn't push-back against you, more just an observation that the SA stuff isn't entirely severed from the team (and could lead to something).
3) I am using hindsight for sure, but even before these allegations came out, I would have called it weird. I simply don't see why someone that age (graduating senior)/rising 5th year would pursue an incoming freshman they found online. It is not like Penn State has a lack of girls to go after or he saw her at a bar, he would have known she was a new HS graduate (hindsight: my theory is that Starocci either knew his reputation among the upperclasswomen wasn't great, AND/OR he thought that the younger girls would be less likely to come forward), so the fact that he would do this reads suspect to me. I understand it is just a part of life and there are older and much creepier guys, but I do think it is a red flag in the context of a college student in this day and age (when these age gaps are much more scrutinized). I do agree it is not proper use of the word grooming, but the word itself has had its meaning bastardized on social media, so I would not say it was necessarily intentional.

Beau literally said he reported Carter taking a nude picture of him in the locker room and sending it to a group chat, that he told Cael and that the coaches did nothing. This is one of the grossest things you can do and one of the most egregious violations of privacy I can think of. It is also criminal. It's in the article. My take was based on what Beau Bartlett said. Do you believe Beau Bartlett to be a liar? It's 100% represented in what was reported. This makes me believe that you didn't even read the article.

I had interacted with you for years on the other board before moving to this one and quite frankly I am a little disappointed in your response here. I have always found you to be a good and fair poster with integrity. If you're the same diceman from Rivals then this seems completely out of character for you, as far as I can tell. Just this alone, the taking of nude pictures of teammates and sending them in a group chat should be enough to blow up the program if happened the way it's been reported and I have no reason to not believe Beau Bartlett. It's absolutely beyond the pale. It doesn't even take into account all of the other allegations because it does't even have to if this is true.

Posting on a fans website for a team you have disavowed sounds like a great use of time. Go for it, I guess.

I've been a part of this community since 2021. I will continue to be here for as long as I want. The story broke less than twelve hours ago. The fact that Cali_Nittany1 told me to leave means less to me than you probably think it does.

I didn't tell you to leave. I asked why you were still here after you disavowed the team. I guess you're one of those guys that lacks reading comprehension.

All good, but we're going to disagree about #3. Dating younger women isn't a red flag nor should it be.

It's just noise. I get it, people make complaints and then they try to bolster their arguments by throwing everything but the kitchen sink in there whether relevant or not. That's natural, it's what happens. But it's just noise.

The real issue is whether he sexually assaulted a woman. Whether she was 17, 18, 19 or 42 doesn't matter, it's not relevant.

The article stated Beau said "nothing came of it" not the coaches did nothing I believe. That could mean he reported something and nothing was verifiable and thus nothing happened. It could mean it was dealt with internally. It could mean other things as well. One truth is YOU have no idea what it means, like the rest of us, but YOU sure as hell have already formed your opinion and casted your judgement. Until something more factual and concrete comes out I'm not taking anyone's word for it.

The semantics that people are willing to use to justify things like this is wild. These are the exact same kinds of semantics people used in 2011. They didn't work then and they are going to go over like a lead balloon now.

Agree to disagree, I could just be biased by personal factors, and I understand what you are coming from.

I absolutely agree with the closing point; no point in getting distracted by background information.

The Staff needs to get in front of this......soon.

I'm 62. Taking pictures of junk and posting it, even on a team chat, is beyond gross, IMHO. If you tell me this is kids being kids today, then I'm still saying if the staff knew and did nothing, then this is the wrong course of action. Especially with the relatively recent allegations from the football team.

Theft. Sure, turn it over to LE. But if I am a coach and one of my guys is saying there is theft, I am getting to the bottom of it. To quote Tom Petty.......I need to know. The team needs to understand this won't be tolerated. Seems pretty simple.

The girl(s) allegations. This seems new........too much to digest.

I guess the biggest deal it is the same friggen dude. The same guy who pitched a fit and left the team at BT's because he was hurt. The same guy who posted Ferrari with a *****.

I'm scratching my head why I would have boosters throw dollars at this kid to come back for the 5th year.

Well at least we can end on a note of agreement. Like Diceman I’ve always had nothing but good interactions with you over the years as well and always found you to be a fair poster in these communities.

My initial reaction to your comment was probably too reflexive. I just really dislike jumping to extreme conclusions without any comment from the coaching staff. We're still hearing just one side of this story so I think its way too soon to compare this to 2011.

I agree..... 1 thing I learned about 2011 was not to jump to early conclusions and let the facts come out as hard as that is since it can be an emotional reaction. Once the facts came out in 2011 we learned a lot more about where the fingers pointed early and where the fingers should have been pointed but that media wouldn't allow us to follow the facts as it didn't fit the media/BOT narrative.

I have been to Penn st in the opposing locker room for a dual and on the bench during it . Penn st provides a police officer to sit outside the locker room and walk you out to the arena floor. Penn st also has the same for the team. So the cops saw Carter at every home dual . Why was he not talked to? This is the oddest part of all of this to me

Maybe they did talk to Carter -- the report is only Bartlett saying they didn't and he doesn't know they did. Maybe they tried to talk to Carter and he said no and they didn't have any evidence to get a search warrant to go through his property to see if anything was there so they dropped it. Maybe they learned it was a "game" the team played to borrow/"steal" someone else's stuff to see if they notice as proffered by another poster who claims inside knowledge (I am not suggesting the accuracy of this claim as I don't have inside info). Maybe the other wrestler that was there told them Carter was never alone in the locker room and he never approached Bartlett's locker or that the locker was open when the arrived. Maybe they determined Bartlett's timeline wasn't consistent with other facts they were aware of. Maybe they were just lazy and never pursued it. This is why it is unwise to make emotional decisions on partial information until more facts come to light. It is very possible that Bartlett's valid belief of the facts and the actual facts are not the same. It is also possible for Bartlett's belief of the facts are in fact the actual facts. Best to wait and see. Otherwise, we should skip all the due process and all jump over to the Iowa board and demand Carter go to jail and Cael be fired now to fit in.

I am certainly not immune to overreacting. You can ask anyone that knows me. This just hits so close to home with what happened in 2011. This looks and feels exactly like 2011 to me and if I am being honest I just don’t think I can handle going through the wrestling version of 2011.

You obviously havent seen my post about innocent until proven guilty. Same as I said during AJ . And I said the same on the Iowa boards. I have been consistent with that. I see many now who are saying something different now that it's one of your own . If you think I'm someone who tries fitting in you obviously don't know me. I have been ban on BWI and 34 this summer and I doubt it's for fitting in. I leaned into the he's an Iowa guy and what do you know people don't like that 🤣

I did see your previous posts. For clarity, my response wasn't directed at you personally. Was pointing out how many people are taking what is in the article as absolute fact and drawing emotional conclusions based upon it -- convicting Carter, demanding Cael be fired, disavowing the team and equating it to 2011 football without waiting for more. Tried to use your questions to show why that is not the best approach right now.

Being born in the 70s it's all we knew. It was innocent until proven guilty. People can say anything they want but that doesn't mean it's true. Not sure why we all the sudden went to yep they did it. It's so dangerous

The most interesting one for me is how could the police not find him for 6 months? Or who influenced the police to not actually try finding him?

The biggest difference for me is that in AJ's case the complainant contemporaneously reported it to LE and gave very specific details and in this case details are coming out over a year and a half later (the time frame is not clearly stated in the article) and there apparently was no police investigation. That being said, I am a big believer in due process and I never condemned AJ as a sex offender.

How about being clear about the incident you are trying to say the cops needed to talk to Carter about? Because you can't mean about any sexual assault. Because that has not been alleged before now.

You being vague - over and over - just fuels conspiracy theories that people will attribute to the sexual assault allegation, because you're being vague. You have to know that., don't you? You can't be that obtuse.

I'll assume that you are talking about the theft investigation, but most people won't. And I'm not sure of the circumstances of that alleged police contact, which I'm pretty sure you aren't, either.

But they could set up something maybe . Saying they couldn't locate him for 6 months is strange. He would've been at practice at 3pm daily. Or try going to one of his classes. Sounds like someone decided not to make an attempt if he was never talked to. And I'm talking about the alleged theft. Not the other accusations

I was talking about the alleged theft Dice. I don't allows explain things the best 🤣. Wasn't trying to be vague.

Officially banned on Rivals from calling out an ignorant fool from Iowa. What a way to go out. Oh, happy days! I will never tolerate idiots without information. I will never come to any conclusion without facts. I will never comment on this situation without knowledge. I will never, ever, take a stand without proper knowledge. In this particular situation. Hell no. I'll simply wait for actual facts.

Glad to be back here, but not on the pay board. Not going there at this time. I have missed tons of folks here.

This mods are out of line they know it's coming to an end and the power they dream about is gonna be gone soon. Iowa boards and BWI are the same . In a few days they will back to looking at band pictures from high school

I will simply say this. I will never jump to any conclusions. However, I will not back down from an ignorant fool. I don't profess to know all facts here, but I actually know more than I want to, and I'll leave it at that.

I'm happy to be back here. I genuinely missed folks here. That said. I'm just not going down certain roads. It's simply not my place. However...

Well this has been discussed among ourselves throughout the day…many good points made but I don’t know any more facts than this morning.

Willie and Basch discussing it in the morning; will see if they know and disclose anything not mentioned here. Mineo retweeted a few things but didn’t comment. Radio silence so far from Flo/CP, and Greg/Tom here.

I wouldn't expect much from Basch and Willie that hasn't already been said.

2 woman....who? These allegations have made by Beau's wife. The failed OF "star" has tweeted and tweeted away on X about Carter. When the police get involved I will pay attention, the rantings of 2.99 a month OF drop out, not so much.
I’m referring to the two women quoted in the Collegian article who are directly alleging that Starocci sexually assaulted them. Is that who you are referring to? If not, who cares and how is it relevant? We have direct allegations from the victims themselves.
